An Excellent Friday Afternoon... :-)

Recommended Posts

About 4 pm today, I'm sitting at my desk, working on some paperwork and looking forward to that last hour going by real quick so I could start my weekend. It was just me, Purusha (our manufacturing manager) and Kevin (our "runner" and shipping/receiving helper) there; Kate (katecooper) is in Cross Keys doing the big ways, Tony doesn't work out of our office, Linda (hotamaly) had gone home a few minutes earlier, Steve (SBS) had taken the day off and I'd let Keely take off early since it was a typical kinda slow Friday.

FedEx had delivered late today; instead of before noon like usual they dropped off our stuff a little after 3. Kevin had opened all the boxes and was up front, standing a few feet behind me matching up invoices with purchase orders and customer orders. He asked me about one that he couldn't find the customer's order for; I figured out that I'd typed a W where I should have typed an S on the p.o. and solved that little glitch.

He got almost all of them done, then he asked me about the last one. He said "Now what about this one? It doesn't have a customer number or sales order number on it, it just says 'per Tony'". Immediately my ears perked up and I jumped out of my chair screaming "That's my canopy!! Damn you!!! You made me wait!!!"

Kevin was laughing his ass off as I ran to the back, looked at the 7 canopies sitting on the floor and quickly located it (I'd memorized the serial number the day I got the confirmation in; SP170-5555, how hard is that to remember? ;)) - my brand new Spectre 170 had arrived, exactly five weeks from the day it was ordered and a full week before I expected it!

I danced my way back up to my desk, hugging the bag close to me, feet barely touching the ground. Of course the phone rang before I could get back to my desk; I answered it and helped the customer without ever letting go of my new toy.

Once I got off the phone I popped the bag open and laid it out. It's sooooo purty! Exactly as ordered, exactly what I wanted - turquoise top and bottom skins except for the center cell which is black; silver ribs and slider. Kevin and Purusha were trying hard not to laugh at me, I was so excited. Hey, this is my BEER new canopy colored exactly how I wanted it, and the BEER time that my main will totally match my container....

I'll be hooking it up to my risers tomorrow and putting the first jumps on it on Sunday... I'll take pics when I have it laid out and post 'em tomorrow so you can drool over it too :P

I gotta send out a big thank you to my bosses Kate and Tony for this incredible gift, and to Sandy at PD for rushing it through for me! Today I feel like the luckiest person in the world...

Lazy, yes. :)
It's worth every penny to me to not have to pack. Packing kills my back and I can do more jumps in a day if I'm not packing.

Besides that, I packed for a living for a few years and I've still got waaay more pack jobs than I have jumps. Until my jump numbers exceed my pack job numbers I don't have any problem helping to support hard working packers everywhere. B|
