You mean that he made a couple of jumps then someone ratted him out for being under 18? Very lame.

I agree.. but for the simple fact he ratted himself out.. He told me he was drinkin with a few others and someone caught him while he was drunk and he told them his "true" age.. {17} I mean 18!!! So Roger/S&TA Grounded him. Sucks to be at a huge DZ with nice planes and can't jump!

Here's the deal. Omri was told that it was 18 and over at SDC only. He came anyway and got his paperwork through. He made a jump. That night he was over heard bragging that he jumped at SDC and wasn't 18. A staff member overheard that and told maifest. So he ratted himself out.

SDCs policy is to only let 18 year olds jump. That is the only age of consent. Anyone under the age of 18 CAN NOT sign a waiver. A parent CAN NOT sign away the rights of their child. So, that waiver that any parent has signed for their under 18 year old child is WORTHLESS. You are opening yourself up to a great amount of liability. But....everyone has to make their own decsion.

Wow i was pretty sure there was an 18 year mimimun by law??? Guess not, but then it is not the first thing I have been wrong about.

I bet the law suit would be won by the family on that one... how can he waiver?

He can wavier at some places... Some have a requirement of 18 for training... but if you are already trained then 16 to fun jump. Plus since he is here on a visa from Isreal with out parents here... its going to be hard for him to get consent ;)

Sorry for this comments, but I haéve to get this out of my system...

What a load of crap
Don't you people living in the USA have any interest in coming up for your freedom???

You can drive a car at 16, but you can't jump under 18????
You can jump at 18 but you can't get a beer afterwards until you are 21???

home of the FREE ????
yeah right!

stand up for your freedom, don't let anyone tell you what you should or should not do, as long as it doesn't involve hurting other people.

Out here you can make tandems at 14, jump solo at 16, drive a car at 18 (sounds quite logic to me)
and there is no one that tells you you can't drink untill you reach a certain age, and I don't believe that Belgium has a higher percentage of drunks than the USA!

I go skydiving to experience that 1 minute of absolute freedom, and hate other people telling me what to do.

Jus my point of vieuw....

not wanting to offend anyone by the way.

So you think that since the rule is a lower age that equals more freedom? it is exactly the same number of people affected, just that they are younger there when they can do things, not that you don't have laws, just that you drew a different line.

I think that a 16 year old jumping can easily hurt others, their parents for one, when they put that 16 year old imortality to the test.

but just a point it is the home of the brave.

its OK Tom,
tell us what you really think.:D

at most DZ's, Omri could have jumped at 16 with the proper waivers.
I believe(havent read this post in a few days) that b/c he tried to trick them they wouldnt want him jumping there.
for him to get the proper waivers signed is unfortunately not gonna happen unless he has a legal guardian in the states that would sign those papers!
it may suck butthats the law of the land...
