nws01 0 #1 July 16, 2002 I had a cutaway and reserve ride two weeks ago and I have still not had my reserve repacked. It is not the riggers fault. He ordered my freebag and handles the Monday after my cutaway. I tried to call Mirage all week but they did not answer the phone. I sent e-mails and a pm to Unisyn. They finally called my rigger 5 days after receiving the order and confirmed it. Yet my rigger still has not received them. I did not go to work today. I spent the day in bed. I have not had air in awhile and I am going through withdrawls. Just wanted to vent!
bbarnhouse 0 #2 July 16, 2002 Well Nathan sorry for your woes.......could be worse. Not only did I have a cutaway on Sat. But today I got taken out on exit and slammed into the airplane. THUD. Good thing I have a couple of days off........and it could have been hell of alot worse. Quit whining!!
nws01 0 #3 July 16, 2002 Thanks Betsy Boobie! Congrats on handling the cutaway! A little adrneline rush after the adrneline rush kind of wakes you up, you know what I mean? I hope you were able to find your canopy and freebag. How is the training going?
skybytch 273 #4 July 16, 2002 Did you order two of each, so next time you won't have to go through this? Spare parts are a good thing to have around...
bbarnhouse 0 #5 July 16, 2002 Nathan I know people that have never had a reserve ride even after a couple of thousand jumps. This is #2, but yeah it was fun. Someone else told me to do this. I think Mirage was on vacation over the fourth and that is why I am waiting so long. I will order extra and make sure this does not happen again. gravitysurf808 0 #9 July 16, 2002 QuoteI didnt even get a chance to have a reserve ride Sorry to hear jtval. A good ole' fashioned reserve ride might be enough excitment to get one through the drought you're enduring! Is BASE an option? Or would it be grounds for imprisonment there? billvon 3,111 #11 July 16, 2002 >Spare parts are a good thing to have around... Yep, I have boxes now. By this time I must have a dozen sliders, two or three reserve ripcords, cutaway handles, a half dozen toggles (mismatched of course) D-bags, slider bumpers, pilot chutes from 24 to 50 inches, you name it. Now if I could just get a decent sewing machine.

Jasmin 0 #14 July 16, 2002 QuoteOnly rookies toss their handles bwahaahaa......so just kidding Only rookies give themsleves a chop....NOT! Had to add that as I haven't had a chop yet (touch wood) have had quite a few close calls, but I usually dump high [thank goodness] and have so far managed to recover them...but the one I nearly had on my 28th tandem, well, that was interesting...xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both." bbarnhouse 0 #15 July 16, 2002 Nathan~ Two way with camera train exit. Shana rotated on exit and slammed me into the aircraft. Pilot heard it and contacted the ground crew......he thought it was my head. I'm resting for the next few days and will be training again on Thursday.....hopefully. Cheers! nws01 0 #16 July 16, 2002 QuoteOnly rookies toss their handles I know and I kept them on the first chop. Oh well. This opening and spin made little birdies go around my head so I don't care. I am waiting on my freebag too. I watched it go into some deep woods. I need a machete to go and look further. Luckily my canopy floated all the way to the airport. That was luck. And yes, I am still a rookie!
Sebazz1 2 #17 July 16, 2002 My first chop I chucked my handles too. It just sounded cool to say. Out here in California we have Poison Oak. I am highly allergic to it so you would never ever find me charging through the woods. I'd just fork over the cash. Unless it was a main. What do youhave in the east? Poison Ivy, Sumak(sp?).......Same thing I guess
nws01 0 #18 July 16, 2002 The place was loaded with poison ivy. Emmie went with me to find it and she almost picked up a snake as we were making our way through the woods. Emmie bends down to pick it up and says, "Oh look a snake." I say, "Don't pick it up!" Emmie asks "Why not." I reply, "It may be poisonous." Emmie says, "I just want to take it to manifest." I look at Emmie, I look at the weeds taller than me, "lets go back to the hanger without the freebag and the snake" I said.
Sebazz1 2 #19 July 16, 2002 Dude some farmer shot a rattler snake at the airport last week and brought it over to manifest. Fa king huge. It filled up half a five gallon bucket. Even with the thing dead it still scared the crap out of me........~lol~
bbarnhouse 0 #20 July 16, 2002 Oh not only do we have rattlers....but those nice spiders, black widow, brown recluse, oh and lets not forget the scorpions both black and white ones.....I'll take the sumac, ivy and oak!
jncoughlin 0 #21 July 16, 2002 Nathan; It's obviously a conspiracy by Mirage to get you to buy two, or three, of everything. How about a new container in case your gets damaged?
Scoby 0 #22 July 17, 2002 California has some freaky wildlife. I've seen rattlesnakes, tarantulas, black widows and brown recluses up close and personal. I've seen the latter two in my own house. The tarantula was the coolest, though. I used to be totally irrational about spiders. Even the smallest ones gave me shivers. However, when we were hiking out to a bridge to bungee jump, we came across a tarantula. It was enormous and was sitting dead still in the middle of the trail. I assumed it was dead and got close to it, but it started moving about. Oddly enough, at that moment, whatever fear I had evaporated and I've been cool with spiders ever since.
