AndyMan 7 #26 July 16, 2002 Quote Uh.. don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's ok to be pushed. Keep in mind that if a student ever does static line from a otter where the students leaves from inside the door... its pretty common for the SL JM to "push" the student out, to help them get out cleanly. Just like most JM's won't allow a student to come back into a Cesna once they're on the strut... most JM's won't allow a student to climb back into the Otter after they're sitting in the door. But that's not what we're talking about anyways. _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
Shark 0 #27 July 16, 2002 Quote I guess it would be funny if it was my close friend that did it to me, but next time a little joker tries that, grab for a hackey or silver ring on the way out.... Exactly... and kill everybody on the plane when the canopy gets wrapped around the tail.

lummy 4 #29 July 16, 2002 Okay, last go around on this one for me, Hobbes, I never said it was ok to be pushed, only stated that you should be ready to go at anytime, regardless. Would I want to be pushed? That'd all depend on the circumstances. If it was some idiot being a jerk, damn skippy we'll have words afterwards.Someone I know playing a practical joke, I'd weigh if I'm in the door tho, I'm going out, if I'm not, I shouldn't be there in the first place. Before you even say it, I was taught to get on my belly and look under the plane to spot. My other diatribe was just a response that even thou the masses seem to do something, it doesn't make it right. Lastly, to the guy who mentioned pulling silver or a hacky on the way out, let's think about this, that would be a good way to get a canopy caught on the tail of a plane, in my opinion. One could only imagine what kind of pushing would be going on in that scenario. Ooops, forgot the disclaimer, I'm a hundred jump wonder, so take everything I say with a grain of salt and a teaspoon of Castor Oil...I promise not to TP Davis under canopy.. I promise not to TP Davis under canopy.. eat sushi, get smoochieTTK#
AggieDave 6 #30 July 16, 2002 Getting pushed? Well, if it was a buddy of mine playing a prank, that's one thing. If I was in the door and someone saw a PC (reserve or main) come out, I would expect that I would get pushed or tackled out the door, better that then to have the chance of seriously screwing a lot of people (loosing tails from aircraft is generally frowned upon). If its not something like that, there will be words, very stong, articulated words. Probably told to the offending person in my command voice an inch from their face. Basically, I don't loose my temper very easily, but that would probably do it.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." konradptr 0 #31 July 16, 2002 Please understand that I was joking. Ripping tails off planes isn't funny, just as it wasn't funny to get pushed out... Joke misunderstood... :( ------------------------------------------ Getting banned isn't that bad......
AggieDave 6 #32 July 16, 2002 Sorry, my post wasn't directed at you or anyone at all, actually. Just stating my thoughts.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
Shark 0 #33 July 16, 2002 AggieDave, Konradptr is afraid of you because you carry a weapon in freefall. Do y'all have gunracks on the otter, too? BTW, Rich F. is doing the SSL with me Saturday. (with your old rig.)
AggieDave 6 #34 July 16, 2002 Yeah, gunracks on the Otter and a couple of axe handles in the Cessna... You've got to jump armed, you never know when you'll need it. You might see a prize 10-point in the woods by the DZ while under canopy. Or some Nazi trained elite communist ninja para-troopers might drop into the DZ, you just never know. Tell Rich hi for me, that's his rig from the beginning, though, he just let me borrow it for a while. See, Aggies are cool like that. Oh, tell him that if he doesn't get here for the AOT boogie that there's going to be a lot of upset people!--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." goose491 0 #35 July 16, 2002 Quote Is it cool to push someone out the door who is not ready" Quote Getting back to Scott, who started this thread with a very good question... NO NO NO it is not cool to push someone out the door who is not ready... I can only think of one person I know who could push me out with out me trying to destroy them later... And that's cause I know him well and he wouldn't push me out unless he figured I was ready... And that the spot was good... And that we were not directly above another plane or something... Not too many people can make calls like that for you! Also, there has been some joking around on this thread (and that's cool) but it should be made clear to anybody who reads the original question and is looking for real answers that borrowing somebody's silver on exit is WAAAAYYY NOT COOl, it's dangerous! Quote The event really shook me up, but I learned that I can go way below my comfort altitude and do the right things. If anything, this is good to hear. You never know when you are going to have to "Get Out!" unexpectedly... I had an "emergency" exit a couple of weeks ago... tell you what, I'll start a thread in the Incidents forum so you can read about it if you want... Trust me, you'll get plenty comfortable getting out anywhere above 2500'... My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
schuair 0 #36 July 18, 2002 Actually he was my AFF instructor, and he shoved me with no warning, I trust the guy with my life. If he shouted jump scott, or go go go, no problem. But I thought is was somelse who did it. And yes we a had a up close disscusion, and he stated that the green light was on for 6 seconds and I had no choice and that we were at 5k, cause he "looked at two altimiters"..Bottom line,.. It was a bullshit thing to do and I belive he knew it. At least it was good training, but I did give em the finger for the first 500 feet of freefall.
