hisgoofyness 0 #1 July 17, 2002 I finally got to jump my new rig last night, and all I can say is WOW! That Wings container is so damn comfy, and that Tri 190 is much quicker than I had anticipated... I love it! I didn't think going from a 220 F111 to a 190 ZP would be that much of a difference, but let me tell you my first thought after a beautiful snivelly opening was damn this thing is 1,001 times faster. I opened at 8,000 ft since it was my pre-second jump on my new rig, as well as my pre-second jump on a zp canopy. Once in the saddle I was still abouve the cloud base which was at about 6,000 ft., granted there were plenty of holes, but the view was amazing, it was just before sunset and all I could see was a nice beautiful orange glow with lots of white fluffies in front of it! I practiced my flare a few times, then worked on turns, even grabbed my dive loops to get a feel for them (since I was still abouve 4,000 ft.). I was amazed at how much glide it had, after hearing several people dog 7 cells for being so ground hungry. I for one thought it had much more glide than the 9 cell F111 canopies I had been jumping. I noticed this most when I turned on the base leg of my landing pattern. Needless to say, I thought damn I have to hurry up and get this bad boy back in to the wind. Coming in on final I actually landed about 5 M from the target and almost stood it up... Just flared a little to high (and like an idiot I leaned)... Step, step tumble... Anyway here is a couple of shots... hisgoofyness Goudha is for Buddha, and that's good enough for me!

Please let us know what you think of the Cordura BOC... Does it feel different on the pull?. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
hisgoofyness 0 #12 July 17, 2002 thank you... did anyone notice the different colored stripes and logos on the side panels ??? Quotelet us know what you think of the Cordura BOC i have only put the one jump on it and it was a little tougher to pull out of the pouch than the spandex i was jumping as rental gear but i am sure that is partially because it is new... the cordura boc was really the only hard decision for me to make when i ordered it ( i was afraid of the cordura not holding it in as well ) but after recieving the rig i was impressed with the elastic at the top of the pouch, as long as you push everything except the handle past the elastic i dont see there being a problem with it coming out prematurely i would rather it be a little firm on the pull than loose, especially for when i start freeflying hisgoofyness Goudha is for Buddha, and that's good enough for me! scottbre 0 #13 July 17, 2002 Quotei would rather it be a little firm on the pull than loose, especially for when i start freeflying I'm not sure I would want to freefly with a cordura BOC. Doesn't seem as secure to me. Just my opinion though. "Your mother's full of stupidjuice!" My Art Project
PhreeZone 20 #14 July 17, 2002 I'm having my next rig made with a Codura BOC for sure... its a bitch to replace.... but it wears better then spandex and holds better too imoYesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
hisgoofyness 0 #15 July 17, 2002 QuoteDoesn't seem as secure to me. well from compared to many spandex boc's i have seen, my cordura pouch actually has more elastic at the top i really dont think it would be a problem why do you think it might be? i am curious. i really dont want to get myself in a bad situation hisgoofyness Goudha is for Buddha, and that's good enough for me! scottbre 0 #16 July 17, 2002 Quotei really dont think it would be a problem It probably wouldn't be a problem. It just looks to me like the Cordura BOC gives the pilot chute more room to move around and shift it's shape, while if you have a nice and tight spandex one, it takes on the exact shape of your PC and doesn't let your PC move at all unless you or something is banging on it. I don't have any experience with cordura BOCs other that just seeing a few. But they look kind of "baggy", and I would personally prefer tight over baggy. "Your mother's full of stupidjuice!" freeflir29 0 #17 July 17, 2002 Quotewhy do you think it might be? The Cordura pouches provide less friction to hold the P/C in the pocket. I personally don't like them. I have around 200 jumps on my rig and I have replaced the pouch once. It cost me $30 I think. Not really a big deal. You'll still have to replace the Spandex at the top of your Cordura pouch now and again. Maybe not as often but it will have to be done eventually. Premature deployments while head down near the bottom of a skydive can kill you. I'll pay the $30 once every year or two and be safer. goose491 0 #21 July 17, 2002 Quotei really dont think it would be a problem why do you think it might be? i am curious. i really dont want to get myself in a bad situation I think there is a thread about Cordura BOC... My only solid thought is that the spandex systme gives elasticity to the ENTIRE pouch... Should your pilot chute "ball up", the spandex will stretch around it to let it out wheras I can see the possibility of a Hard pull given the same situation and a tough Cordura pouch... However, I have not seen the pouch up close and personal. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
