BikerBabe 0 #4 July 18, 2002 LOL...that's just another day at the office for James Traficant. He's the congressman for north central area, and if you know anything about Ohio or the Mafia, Ohio actually is a hotbed for the Mafia, organized crime, whatever you want to call it. forget chicago and new york. If you want mob drama, Youngstown, Ohio is where it's at....don't believe me? Ask anyone from around there. Traficant's been in their pocket for years.Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!

PhreeZone 20 #6 July 18, 2002 Ah... the mobs lacky got caught and is about to be tossed out huh? Hell.... he said that if he's expulled he's going to rerun this fall from jail. Sad thing he will probally win and be the only congressmen to have c-span in his jail cell 24/7 with phone and aide rights...Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
Snowflake 0 #7 July 19, 2002 Just another example of my theory that the general population is much to stupid to vote. I bet he gets probation but be sure if it was my ass up on the same charges they would throw away the key if I ever here him publicly utter the word justice I will personally drive to OH and whack his ass
FallRate 0 #8 July 19, 2002 I could be wrong, but I would think that if a felon can't vote, he also can't run for office. FallRate
PhreeZone 20 #9 July 19, 2002 If its in appeal I'll bet he can get an exemption to it.... Hes a sly little congressman. Watching the events over the last 2 years have led me to believe that contray to popular belief.. he knows whats he's doing and he could care less about anyone else... the mob's got his back.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

wildblue 7 #12 July 19, 2002 QuoteThe people of Ohio? *shrug* We decided the governement needed a little humor. Hey, at least we know how to read a ballot. (I dunno, I didn't vote for him)it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality

Deuce 1 #15 July 19, 2002 In Ca. you can't run for office or vote unless you're a registered voter. That only eliminates people who have been convicted and are in jail (you can vote if you're awaiting trial), convicted persons in prison, and persons on parole. Felons who are out and off parole can vote, and run for most offices.
TEB6363 0 #16 July 19, 2002 Ahhhhh, our government working hard for us!!! Hey guys, let's elect a crook and then spend lots of money to get him back out because we forgot to "not" vote for him the 2nd time. Why the heck has this guy been in for 9 terms???? Is there only one box to check in Ohio?? Once the plane takes off, you're gonna have to land - Might as well jump out!!
PhreeZone 20 #17 July 19, 2002 >Why the heck has this guy been in for 9 terms??? Uhh.... the Mob? bmcd308 0 #18 July 19, 2002 Regardless of the mob, if you get past his weirdness, he has actually done a good job representing the people of his district. I think that many people who post here would be surprised by how much of his politics they agree with, particularly if you took foreign trade off the table. Given his district, he has very protectionist positions on foreign trade, but that's what the people who elected him want. And he has brought a great deal of color to an otherwise boring political process. Brent ---------------------------------- www.jumpelvis.com
freeflir29 0 #19 July 19, 2002 QuoteI think that many people who post here would be surprised by how much of his politics they agree with I'm not sure of his voting record but that is the bottom line. I don't really care what he is doing if votes the way I want him to. There are many "popular" legislators that vote for crap!!!
AndyMan 7 #20 July 19, 2002 QuoteWhy the heck has this guy been in for 9 terms???? You gotta understand, this whole corruption thing started LONG before he ever ran for govenor. He was sherif of Youngstown ohio when the FBI started looking into him. They charged him, took him to court, and he won. He used that victory to sell the population on the idea that the FBI was literally out to get him, that they had a vendetta against him. He played himself as the classic "us vs. them'... and the population bought it, hook line and sinker. Even now, he's still got a huge following, people who're convinced the whole thing was a setup, because the FBI, CIA, and NSA are out to get him. Welcome to Ohio, folkes. I suspect that if he ever does run, he won't win.... but it'll be frighteningly close. _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
