It seems I'm giving my condolences a lot recently

Recommended Posts

It seems I'm giving my condolences a lot lately, and I want to stop. At least for a while. So, this weekend, I am asking a personal favor from all of you:

Be careful.

If you are a low number jumper, don't hook. If you decide to try hooking this weekend, get some instruction from someone who knows what they are doing. And if they say "you're not ready", listen to them. If you know how to hook, get instruction on how to do it better - from someone who knows how.

Sit out a jump if you're feeling rushed. Slllllllllloooooooowwwwwwww down... the load may not wait, but the sky will.

Learn something new about safety this weekend. Even if you think you know it all, find something new to learn. You can't know it all - so learn something, and then put it into practice. And practice your emergency procedures over and over and over.

Teach new jumpers something this weekend - something about gear, or safety, or how to determine winds. Take one of us aside, and educate us.

If you see someone doing something which puts them or others in danger, for God's sake, open your trap and say something. Silence is NOT golden if it could kill you or someone else.

I'm getting off my soapbox now. But please, please...I don't want to send any more condolences this weekend. Stay safe, as safe as you can be.

Ciels and Pinks-
Michele

I'm working all weekend.[:/] The office is usually a pretty safe place. Well, except for that one time I had to kill a Copper Head snake just outside my cubicle. ;) Be safe folks.....practice your emergency procedures!! That high speed trip I took dragging my P/C last weekend certainly gave me something to think about. Things happen fast...you have to be faster!!!!

Is that made by the tire company, or did they just lease the rights to the name?

Hooking low sucks- been there--- thats why I fly more than I jump. if you want to hook it, do it right, have a clear atea to pull out of, dont hook with no out half way though it- it can kill ya.
Play hard~!

Yes, strange day at Elsinore during the SSL. We had several teams going to their alternate because of sprained ankles on landing and one hard opening; on a Spectre. I even got clobbered during a block move. Got kneed in the back of the head, but mostly from the side. Now I know why they call that block the Stardian.:)
Keep in mind that on hot summer days, especially at Elsinore and Perris, that you will experience high density altitude performance, or lack of it, on your canopy. ie. your canopy will handle like it was at 5000+ rather than your dz elevation on hotter days. Worse with light winds.
