GrumpySmurf 0 #3 July 12, 2002 A remember - your life jacket is mearly a backup device. Do not depend on it to save your life - if you are not confident in your ability to execute your emergency procedures (swimming) - you should re-think your choice to raft
seedy 0 #4 July 12, 2002 If they have some good whitewater you are in for a great time. Not as thrilling as skydiving, but we had a blast when we went on the Snake River in Wyoming. I intend to live forever -- so far, so good.

dmddave 0 #6 July 13, 2002 Rafting can be a blast if you have some good class IV or better water. Sit in the front for the most action. I have a 10 man whitewater boat that I usually use every summer but this year most of the rivers are at a 100 year low. Haven't dipped a paddle once this year. Just like skydiving, be sure to smile and have fun.
Skyrose7 0 #7 July 13, 2002 I went a long time ago, but it was a blast! I sat in the front (um--that is where the action is). I never fell off, thank goodness, the water was just above freezing. yikes! have fun ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The mind is like a parachute--it works better when it is open. JUMP. skybytch 273 #8 July 13, 2002 I went rafting down the mellower part of the American River here in California back when I was a teenager. We were using two man rafts, with one of us sitting in the back handling the oar and the other one sitting on the front of the raft hanging on for dear life. It was great fun! I didn't even mind that I got tossed off the front of the raft, into a whirlpool and thrashed away underwater fearing for my life until I relaxed and quit fighting it and it spit me out. Hope you have a great time. Post some pics when you get back!

skymama 37 #10 July 23, 2002 I love rafting! I'm so glad you had a good time. Here's one of my rafting pictures. This was taken last summer, on the French Broad in NC. That's me in the front (of course!), and my mom and the kids in the boat with me.She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
