PhillyKev 0 #1 July 25, 2002 I've been seeing the promos for the X games lately since they're in Philly again. During the commercial they always show a couple of clips of sky surfing. Did they add it back, or is it just false advertising?
PhreeZone 20 #2 July 25, 2002 Probally just using old stock fotage as filler. I'm yet to see an anouncement anywhere, expecially SSI about it being back in it.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

freebird 0 #5 July 26, 2002 I think the word extreme was invented from skydiving at least in the sport world.....We should be at the top of the x-games list
freebird 0 #6 July 26, 2002 we are the extreme.....no matter how safe, how careful..the fact can not be hidden...skydiving IS extreme..even though I used to do my student jumps on my lunch break...It is still an extreme act.........and Im inlove with it
Dumpster 0 #7 July 26, 2002 You got it wired, man! There's all those other "extreme" sports - and then there's us - we're in a class by ourselves, and I don't know about the rest of you, but I like it here! I am SO glad we're not part of the "mainstream" What do y'all think? Easy Does It
skymick 0 #8 July 26, 2002 So why did skydiving get axed from the X games anyway?
Remster 30 #9 July 26, 2002 Not pulling in enough advertizing revenue... plus my guess is that the organizers didnt want a dead body on their hands...Remster
fool 0 #10 July 26, 2002 Exactly...people watch nascar for the car wrecks, people watch vert skateboarding not only for the cool sets, but also for the harsh bails, and unfortunately in our sport, when someone has a harsh bail, it's more likely to cause broken libms, and/or worse...not what the public wants to see. They want things that are extreme, but not THAT extreme. Fortunately We're already hooked and no matter if the x games deems us right or not, this weekend we'll all be at our respective dz's doing what all the others just don't have in em to do. hisgoofyness 0 #11 July 26, 2002 i for one am glad skydiving is not in the x games but for why they dropped it, i would say it is because it is not that much of a spectator sport, the "fans" can't get close to the action pond swooping would be the only skydive related activity that might work, but then as it has been said here before, we dont need an influx of youngsters coming out to dz's around the country just to try and learn how to pond swoop "because it looks so cool" just my .02 hisgoofyness Goudha is for Buddha, and that's good enough for me!
