Midwest DZ info

Recommended Posts

Hey all,
I am new to the sport and new to this site, just did my two tandems a week ago at Skydive Chicago. Was wondering if anyone had some input on other DZ's in the general area/state, what the differences are, etc... any input is appreciated.
p.s. - any tips on how to get relief from these insane withdrawl symptoms?? I feel like a heroin junkie who has just gone cold turkey! (yes, boobies were already mentioned)

Hey Chris,
I'm from up north a little, Lake Forest/Vernon Hills/Libertyville.....da burbs, I was a little more interested in peoples own experiences at dropzones around the area in terms of atmosphere, staff, regulars, general feel of places. Thank you everyone for the links though, I feel like I've been on every skydiving website there is in the past to weeks

Chicago has three turbine DZ's, and they're all different. One of them, Skydive Illinois in Morris has been having some issues lately.

I'm usually at Chicagoland Skydiving (hinckley) because it's the shortest drive. There you'll find that the facilities aren't nearly as plush as skydive chicago, but I find the people generally a lot friendlier - largely because it's smaller. They've got all the facilities you'll need, it' just that the seating at the bar is a picnic table instead of imported leather sofas. Know what I mean?

Yep.....Millenium in Kankakee just had a nice article written about them recently too.

Skynights in East Troy, WI is well...different. You just have to go to see. I heard they have a new clubhouse actually that is really nice. I still have to go back and visit. And if you go there you have to say hi to Kermit and Julie for me.
