Gingerbread 0 #1 July 30, 2002 I was really looking forward to the Casa Boogie at my home DZ this past week-end. I planned on getting my 200th jump for my D license. I am blind in one eye and had already requested my waiver for night jumps and was good to go. Then wouldn't you know the best made plans of mice and men often go astray. I had a heart attack on Thursday. I had a procedure done called angio plasty and had two stents put in. I got out of the hospital in time to go to the DZ on Sunday to hang out and watch. That SUCKED, but at least I am here and I WILL jump another day. I need some feed back from anyone that has had a heart attack about getting back into sky diving and how it went. I know it will be a while before I can do it, but any info from someone who has already been through this to help educate me a little on what to expect would be greatly appreciated. Blue Skies! jfields 0 #4 July 30, 2002 Glad you pulled through! I don't have any specific advice, but your attitude and willpower have to be big players in your recovery. Seems like you are good in that department. Other than that, be patient with things and make sure you get good medical advice. Blue Skies!

scottbre 0 #7 July 30, 2002 QuoteWe should all do it. True, but if you have a heart attack, those are probably the first things that "Doc" is going to say have to go. "Your mother's full of stupidjuice!" My Art Project
jfields 0 #8 July 30, 2002 True, but I've just been pondering diet and exercise a lot since I've gradually increased my wingloading on the same canopy and unintentionally turned my jumpsuit into a tight fastfaller suit.

jfields 0 #10 July 30, 2002 QuoteGive up McD's? Are you crazy? I could do without McD's, except I'm a sucker for fries. If we are talking about health, we really should skip the fast food greaseburgers. When I don't have time to get "real" food, I at least make an attempt to get something decent at Subway, where I can halfway control the crap quotient in what I eat. I'm not making any claim to be healthy, but I'm a fatboy trying to be a little more healthy.

What a sucky week Gingerbread! Hang in there; you'll be back in the air soon.
