cloud9 0 #1 July 30, 2002 Can anyone help me out with this virus. The file C:\WINDOWS\TEMPORARY INTERNET FILES\CONTENT.IE5\UXQZ6P0N\EXITPOP[1].HTM could not be cleaned. Please delete the infected file. I have McAffe and it keeps showing me that this virus is there but when I try to delete it or quaritine it won't let me. It says something like replace the file with a clean version. Like i said when I try to delete it, it says I can't. I don't know what to do with the thing I'm not very computer savay. The only thing I knoow this virus does is cause a bunch of pop up's that I close and it just opens another one. Very aggrivating to say the least. Any help would be appreciated. Oh my virus scan program is one week old or I guess I should say I just bought it one week ago. I have also checked for any online upgrades but haven't found any. skymut 0 #3 July 30, 2002 Try a scan and clean online at: http://housecall.antivirus.com It's a free, online virus scan. I use it at work from time to time. It is done online, so if you use dial-up, it might take a while. There are some other ways to get at it, but try the easy route first. It doesn't sound too malicious, just annoying. PhreeZone 20 #5 July 30, 2002 All you have to do to clean this one is to reboot and the virus scanner will remove it when you delete the temp internet files through internet explorer. Reboot open internet explorer click tools Click Internet options click Delete files... Click ok Virus gone....Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
cloud9 0 #6 July 30, 2002 Thanks skymut but just for information that online virus scan did not find the virus at all. So if anyone else has it follow the site phreezone gave, it recognizes it. Your right it really isn't anything other then a bother, but just in the short time it took to post this I had 5 popups.
cloud9 0 #7 July 30, 2002 Well I tried the reboot cleaning all temp and cookies. The virus is still there. This thing is persistant if nothing else. This is where McAffe says it is. When I try to delete it still says I can't. I'll try their web site again. Only had 3 popups during this post maybe its getting better! skymut 0 #8 July 30, 2002 What ver of Windows are you using? You might try booting into DOS, and navigating your way into the directory and deleting the infected file.
