GrumpySmurf 0 #1 July 31, 2002 So I just get off the phone with a friend of mine, a Swedish 5'8" blonde twenty-something girl I've known for a few years, that is in town visiting friends (including me) - appears her ride to a concert is backing out and she somehow manages to convince me to give her a lift - normally I would not be one to complain..but rewind the tape back to Monday night.... So we get together for dinner Monday eve, at a local pub (g/f headed back to work a week ago, both of them are good friends - so this is considered a 'safe date' sort of thing), friend decides, after a few beer, she wants to do shots - at 6 freakin' PM, so the shots come out - the plan was to meet up with friends at another pub at 9ish or so. So to kill the time after dinner, we find a bar on State Street, which happen to have Spotted Cow (it's a local brew) on special, $5 a pitcher, which is her favorite. I figure since she is leaving soon and will not find this brew back home (and because I'm driving) - we'll get her a pitcher, I stopped drinking at that point (8PM), planning to drive at 1AM. Well, the night goes on, she gets a bit tipsy, I pull up to her place to drop her off - she leans over, starts getting 'friendly' and says, "I think you should come upstairs" - I figure she's joking and reply, "Yeah, let me guess, I won't be sleeping much, huh?" - her response, "Eventually." Needless to say I've been getting crap from the guys at the office for turning down the suggestion - and now manage to get myself commited to giving her a lift tonight - I really am hoping it was just the beer talking. GrumpySmurf 0 #12 August 1, 2002 The result: Ok, so a few local jumpers here in Madison get together to catch K-19 (really good flick, I would highly recommend it - not so much a 'us vs. them flick' like 'Hunt for Red October' as a 'them vs. them' flick, reminded me of the novel 'Red Army' in that is was entirely from the Soviet perspective). Anyways, pick up the friend, take her to the concert, head to a local pub after it - the bartender is a jumper from our group (you can imagine the 'happy hour discount' was a wee bit extended for our benefit), meet up with friends - 2 AM rolls around, pile her, half tipsy, yet again, into the car and make sure she understands she will be dopped off at home. We get there, she says, "Ok, I won't invite you up this time." - I'm think, "kewl" - she wants a hug good bye, since she was flying out the next morning - next thing I know, I got a mouth attached to my neck and moving it's way up - I was in the car and out of the driveway so fast, I think it woke up most of the neighbourhood. So I failed you all miserably. At least life will go back to it's relatively normal and boring self again, till the weekend, of course (with SummerFest and the WFFC).
