ramon 0 #1 August 7, 2002 ok I didn't go to Rantoul or Summerfest. I've done 50 jumps in the past 4 weeks. I am not looking foward to going back to the DZ this weekend. I have to go and load organize, coach etc.... I am burnt....what to do ramon"Revolution is an abrupt change in the form of misgovernment.", Ambrose Bierce. hobbes4star 0 #2 August 7, 2002 when was the last time you did a fun jump??? when ever i start to feel burnt out i take a week or two off then come back and do some fun jumps..if fun were easy it wouldn't be worth having, right?
Zennie 0 #3 August 7, 2002 Hey Ramon, is there any chance y'all could set up some sort of rotation so each person has a weekend off to do whatever? Seems like that might help prevent burnout. CanuckInUSA 0 #4 August 7, 2002 At the risk of getting slammed here for thinking that skydiving isn't the only thing in life, why not do something different this weekend? Go for a hike or a bike ride or whatever else strikes your fancy. Don't get me wrong, despite being a newbie to skydiving (and loving every minute of it and yes I will be at my DZ this weekend), I also have many many other interests as well. It's good to mix things up in life. Just my two cents ... Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
dreamsville 0 #5 August 7, 2002 Take hobbes4star's advice. Unless you signed onto jumping as your day job (and even then you supposedly did it because you liked it), never let it get to the point where you consistently don't like it. There are few things worse than coming to dislike something or some one that previously gave you so much joy. Since you have obviously been generous with your time, take a step back for time off if it helps, but at least as importantly, for fun jumps, solos if necessary, to enjoy the beauty of the sky and the fun of playing and canopy. You will need to regain the love of the activity itself to avoid a burn-out soon, all over again. At least that's how I see it. Sebazz1 2 #7 August 7, 2002 What I do is take a day off and go to a DZ that does not need me to work and i just fun jump. Or........you might not like this but I take the day off and go do something like going to the beach, biking, hiking, drinking all day, #^&**$ all day, or or or um you get the drift. Break away for a day and relax.............
rgoper 0 #8 August 7, 2002 QuoteI am burnt....what to do Ramon: sometimes you absolutely HAVE to take time out for yourself. take a couple of weekends off, go do something else, i gaurentee you the "itch" will be back. i know it's a hassle to have to organize, coach etc...but when you take a sport and turn it into a job this happens more often than not. go to the beach, put your toes in the sand! galveston isn't that far away! --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"
SkymonkeyONE 4 #9 August 7, 2002 QuoteWhat I do is take a day off and go to a DZ that does not need me to work and i just fun jump. Exactly. If you are burned out, then you are not going to have any longevity in the sport. When what ever discipline you are doing becomes too much of a job, then I recommend working on something else. don't you have a wingsuit? Find a flocking partner or two and go soar. Still bored? Go to a boogie. Don't want to jump at all? Go water skiing or climbing; whatever it takes to get that bad taste out of your mouth. Still, you have to admit that you got what you asked for. Being the cool guy instructor and organizer might get you plenty of free loads, but it DOES take the fun out of it if you don't leave time for your own fun stuff. I know where you are coming from, brother. I have taken three pretty substantial breaks from instructing and competing in my 21.5 years under a parachute. AggieDave 6 #10 August 7, 2002 Come up to Aggieland, get a couple fun jumps and go party with us, we'll see if we can snap you out of your rut. dreamsville 0 #11 August 7, 2002 Yes, you may have a better suggestion. Wait for the itch and THEN fun jump.I don't drink during the day, so I don't know what it is about this airline. I keep falling out the door of the plane. Harry, FB #4143
Deuce 1 #12 August 7, 2002 Sebazz! Are you burnt? Freefly camp at Davis this Saturday! Whooo-hooooo! GO TO A DIFFERENT DZ AND JUMP THE OTHER DISCIPLINE! If you are a bad *ss freeflyer, borrow a gripper suit and do some butt-sniffing! If you're a psycho belly-flyer, put on some old MC Hammer pants and do the sit! Shake it up! Jump naked! bbarnhouse 0 #15 August 7, 2002 Ramon~ Just so we don't get burnt out, a group of us get together on our day off (Tuesday or Wednesday) and we go out and try something that one of us has never done before. Last week it was golf, this week ice skating. Because we live in a rather isolated area , we plan a dinner once a month,go to the movie.....anything other than be at the DZ and skydiving. One time.....I just drove to San Diego and spent time with a friend and made 2 new ones while there......point is you have to take time out. Cheers

Deuce 1 #23 August 7, 2002 There's one of the most obnoxious human beings in this solar system who jumps at our DZ. I think you had a run-in with him when you visited us a couple months ago. Dyed blonde spiky hair, peirced face, fully sleeved tattoos, REALLY LOUD AND RUDE. Unfortunately for the freeflyers, he's a freeflyer. He was trying to dog me about RW and referred to it as butt-sniffing. I was supposed to get mad, but I thought it was hilarious. Every time I'm shooting 4 way and somebody takes a double cat grip I crack up.
Shark 0 #24 August 7, 2002 QuoteHe was trying to dog me about RW and referred to it as butt-sniffing. He obviously has not "cat" some of the hot r-dub chicks at 'Snore. The Shark is quite the butt-sniffer when it comes to jumpin with chicks.
