Question?

Recommended Posts

So if someone is kicked off dropzone.com and they meet a few people they are back on? My question is this...if you are an alright person yet you can not control your anger you are welcomed back because you have met and know a few people? You are welcomed back from being kicked off the forum? My answer is this, you are who you are. This moderation in the forums is becoming who likes who more! I would call this "Scratching a Sleeping Lions' Balls! yOU tried to shy away from the Democracy but it has become one!;)

Listen you have no idea what you are talking about. First off people change and people learn from their mistakes. If you notice since people have been let back one they are "behaving" themselves so to speak.

Lots of things can happen when you meet someone face to face. And peoplke have a funny way of turning out to be much cooler than originaly thought or much more of an jack*ss.

So until you know what didn't happen at the wffc or meet people face to face stop acusing people of sh*t.

Hmmmm....I believe it would be a democracy if we all had a vote. This is a dictatorship, and it seems that the decision was made unilaterally. LOL....silly boy.

People are who they are. You can spend a week with them and think you know them but that is not the case. What you saw at the WFFC was people having a good time and expressing themselves. Yet, most of them have expressed themselves a year in advance. I think knowing someone a year and meeting someone for a week is a different story.

Nathan,

I think a little bit of education is called for here, maybe I shouldn't be the one doing it, but wtf:
if you say what we saw at the WFFC was people having a good time, you haven't really been paying attention -- yes, we had a good time, but the individual involved went through some times that were anything but good. Go to the Incidents forum and read Segador's posts and come back and tell us that sounded like good times.

A number of us talked with "some people" about a number of things, including decorum here on the forums. "Some people" did more listening than talking. "Some people" showed more character in the short span of WFFC than we had any reason or right to expect.

Like Lindsey said, this is not a democracy, it is a dictatorship, but don't think that the comments of those who were there didn't have impact on the dictator's decision to let "some people" back into the fold. You may not agree with his decision, but that's just too dang bad -- you do not have all the info on what occurred at WFFC and what didn't. In the USAF and other branches of US forces there is a policy of giving information on a "need to know" basis; you are not in a position to need to know the details, the people who are have them.

Let me end by saying that you should note that there seems to be no one who was at Rantoul that objects to Rob Cowan's restoration, that should tell you something. HH left the door open for Rhino when he banned him, stating that he could come back if he earned his way back. He is back. Deal with it.

Faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, more money.

Why do they call it "Tourist Season" if we can't shoot them?

And don't attack people when they get back on, yes.

No. But if you _can_ control your anger, then you might just be welcomed back. People change. I know I have - I'm not the same person who started skydiving. Things like getting put in a wheelchair, seeing two close friends of mine die right in front of me, and seeing a dozen friends recuperating in hospitals had an affect on me. It may just work the same for other people as well.

Thank you for sharing Jack,

I wasn't there either but I have heard some of what happened, including some of the meaning behind segador. Being around for awhile,I also know of a lot of the background stories too so I can't say I didn't see some other events coming. I am also glad to hear that one in question was receptive to the subject of DECORUM. My fifth grade teacher taught his students the meaning of the word by making them rewrite a 5 page essay on that exact subject matter. It sounds as if the lesson was learned without the cramping in your hand afterwards. Then again, some things are best ingrained when pain is involved.

You are absolutely right, Sangiro did leave the door open for Rob to prove that he can come back if he can be respectful of the rules and our community. Knowing NOW that everyone who has met him feels that this lesson has been learned, I think we can let it go and welcome Rob back to our community with one question.

When's he upsizing?

P.s. I feel Nathan should be commended for starting this thread.

Just a general comment from someone that doesnt know and doesn't care... Some people come off really badly in written communication. The way some people phrase things when they write can be really different than how they talk. Conveying emotions can be hard for some people, as well as sarcasm. Getting people to read your writing the way you mean it can be a challenge.

Have any of you given "voices" to people you've never met or heard talk? All I know is I read SkymonkeyOne's comments in Kevin Spacey's voice. Why? He looked like him in some tiny low res picture i saw a long time ago and it stuck.

I disagree. I think you can know someone for a year 'online' and still have no idea who they are. Spending time with them in person - it's much easier to ascertain the character and integrity of the person. And it works both ways - you can be surprised, you can be disappointed.
Now, in the case of the person you're alluding to - I believe that now that there is a mutual respect between him and some other members, he's more apt to 'behave' and if he backslides a bit, he's more likely to listen to those that will tell him "Hey, you're coming off as an ass"
it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality

I agree 100%. This was proven a couple of times at the convention.

I'm happy to see Rob back here and not just because I met him at the convention. I'm happy because him being reinstated means that this community is openminded enough to notice that people have changed/reformed/atoned for their sins and accept them back into the fold if they want to come back. Holding and propetuating grudges is unhealthy for people and communities.

As i've said before, Rhino proved he is a true gentleman. He is the last person i would've expected to "defend my honor";)

You can know people for years in person and never REALLY know them. It's when you see how they handle certain situations that you come to know what a person is made of. This is the exact reason the Special Operations community is run on the "Good Ole Boy" system. You never know how someone will behave during the bad times until you have seen them. In fact....99% of people will never even know how THEY will behave in certain situations until they have been there. We saw Rob handle an ugly situation in an upstanding manner with what I consider great restraint. Certainly not what you might have expected only knowing his former personality here. He proved himself under fire. Plus.....he has a smokin sit that I find easy to fly head down with. Now if I can just get him to sit still....B| MIND WARP!!!! MIND WARP!!!!

Okay, okay. Enough already.

The greenies and boss man decided "in", so in it is. It is ultimately Sangiro's call. The question of why is "need to know", and we really don't.

But enough with the joyous tales of chivalry and valour. At this rate, we'll either have to knight him, beatify him, or pop his expanding head with a pin. :)

I wasn't there so I don't know the exact circumstance. I know WHAT happened. And to me I feel their are other ways of handling something besides fighting. To hear the story it just sounds like he could't control his anger again. Do those of you there disagree? I would like to know your thoughts.

True. That's why you cannot understand why Rhino is back and to me it makes perfect sense.

I can understand why he is back. I was drunk last night and posted this to stir some shit. I think what he did was honorable, yes, but there might have been other ways to do it.

I don't know who told you the story of what happened, but I wish he hadn't, because you seem compelled to bring it up over and over again when it's been handled by the people involved and it's time to let it die. Also you don't seem to have your facts quite straight.

How do you suggest one handle a violent, irrational person? Sing songs? Read poetry?

All in all, to me, your interest in Rhino's reinstatement falls under my "Good God, doesn't he have anything better to worry about?" file.

I'll second that. Neither what didn't happen nor Rob's reinstatement needs to be drug on. STFU and let it fade away into memory. Thank you....this message brought to you by Oral Immodium....when it's not just your ass that won't stop spewing. ;)
