I am sitting here listening some of my Mp3's and i got to "Zoot Suit Riot" by the Cherry Poppin Daddies and almost instantly my mind went to warp nine with ideas and scenes for a kick ass skydiving video!!!! Now if only i had the flying skill and gear to get the shots, the computer with the software and the people to be in the shots SOOOOO frustrating to have a cool idea without the means to express it

Does this happen to anyone else??

not exactly the same media, but I know what you mean. I have a kick ass idea for the flash intro to my website, but I jsut don't have the right tools to do it, video, 3d renderer, a kick ass computer workstation to render it, yada yada yada...

Viking, I know what you mean....I have the same thing with music production. I know that if I had the tools ($1000 computer, $1000 in software, $5000 in hardware) I could get some of these kickass songs I've dreamed up out of my friggin head!
Why are the most expensive hobbies so damn attractive?? (like skydiving!)
Damn money all to hell (except for the 10 grand i need for my license, rig, jumps, beer, etc...)

I'm a skier too, and I always thought that some of the shots where I'm up, inverted over the camera (on snow) would be sweet to switch all of a sudden to a freefly sceen, then switch back to the landing on skis. And keep mixing it up like that all to Soul Coughing.

Already did that once, with "scary kisses" (voice of the beehive.) I'll show you sometime. Wanted to do it with Fastball's "the way" (doable) and Israel's "over the rainbow" (would need a lot of new video.)

It was easy for me to do because I had a lot of archived video.

Listening to music I get LOTS of ideas for little music videos I'd like to do. Most require far more time, money and effort than I'd ever be able to muster for a project from which ultimately, I'd never be able to recoup my investment.

For me, ideas are really cheap. Actually producing them requires a lot.

And let's not even get into the rights issues.

Greetings all........I have had the same ideas but not enough footage....why don't we all collaborate on a kick ass video....I work in television and have 8 edit suites and graphics workstations at my disposal....plus with the exchange rate, we all win!!
