Can rigger add a RSL?

I am thinking of buying a Mirage G4 container without a RSL attachment. I would like to know if it is possible for RSL to be added by a rigger locally or can this be only done by Mirage in US only?

From the sounds of it he's thinking of buying a used rig w/o rsl right?

In that case, he should check to see if the velcro track and guide rings are already installed -- most of the time they are. If not, adding them later is a master rigger task.

Correct, I was thinking of buying a second hand rig, but unfortunatelly it hadn't got any provisions whatsoever for the fututre RSL installation. I still didn't make my mind and will check first with the master rigger at our DZ regarding the costs. Thanks for your help.

I learned something here:
A manufacturer will build a rig that is not RSL-ready.
I always thought the only thing that could NOT be ready would be the risers.

My reality and yours are quite different.

Hi

The older G4 & G3 had the pile velcro on the back of the reserve riser.

The new G4 does not have velcro anymore but a velcroless setting.

It has an under folded flap / channel on the left yoke & 2 guide rings on the top pin flap under the cover flap & velcroless lanyard which does have a Hook & Pile short velcro near the shackle side to create a stiffer fold when goes under the left mud flap.

The Mirage G3 & G4 have several length of the RSL lanyard based & match the reserve ripcord cable length.

This information is not in the manual.

Teardrops were supplied without any provision for an rsl as standard (may have changed now though).

Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.
