PLFXpert 0 #1 August 15, 2002 Hi guys, BZ called me from the Ranch after a briefing and said they had set up a swoop cam on the pond. You can access it by going to the Skydive The Ranch website. It will be running, live, for the entire competition. CHECK IT OUT! BZ and his teammates, Rob Herrick, Scott Miller and Vladi Pesa are numbers 33, 34, 35 and 36, so watch for them. Look for #35, that's my boy-toy. Much love and blue skies!

PLFXpert 0 #3 August 15, 2002 Ha ha ha. Thanks Dave. I should have done that. It's not the best coverage, but at least it's something.
nws01 0 #4 August 15, 2002 It is a nice camera too. Not all cloudy like some of the4 others.
PhreeZone 20 #5 August 15, 2002 Nathan... you were'nt in the midwest last week and had to wake up to everything being covered in water from the dew every morning and the humidity fogging cameras up left and right in freefall and on the ground.... Unless you want to do the website and camera for WFFC next year.... drop it...Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

PhreeZone 20 #7 August 15, 2002 >Aren't we awful sensitive! No... I saw and heard the amount of work Michael put into the website and the video stuff. He was able to get streaming audio and video on a location that did'nt even have phone lines for general use. So far all I'm seeing is updated stills from the Ranch, no audio.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

nws01 0 #9 August 15, 2002 Quoteyou were'nt there so you have no room to critize anything.... Why don't you take your lame ass attacks to pm's. Or are you special because you went to WFFC? Your ego tends to lead more in that direction. Give me a freakin break man!
billvon 3,107 #10 August 15, 2002 >Or are you special because you went toWFFC Convention? Your ego > tends to lead more in that direction. Let's not start in on the personal attacks, ok? PM's is a good idea for both people on this thread.
PhillyKev 0 #11 August 15, 2002 Web cams are a waste of time in general IMO. Looking at the one at the Ranch, the frame rate is horrible. If you're lucky it might jump from beginning of swoop to end of swoop. But most likely you'll just see a random single frame of someone coming by. Until the technology/bandwidth is improved so that you at least get real time footage without frame jumping, it's just not worth it. Especially trying to view high speed landings. pilotdave 0 #12 August 15, 2002 Yep, it's all a tradeoff. Better framerate requires a lower resolution. The software they're using (webcam32) is really meant for low motion type stuff like watching someone staring at their monitor. The picture quality is way better than the "full motion" webcams though. Dave

nws01 0 #14 August 15, 2002 Michael, Phree and I settled this in PM's. Whenever I made that comment I was in no way talking bad about your Web Cam for the WFFC. I watched it quite a bit last week and I enjoyed it. The Ranches has a nice picture. My comment was against "ALL" web cams I have seen... Perris Valleys, Lake Wales used to have one, yours, my friends I have seen. I just said that their picture was nice. I meant no offense to you.

Ummm... settled or not, that didn't sound like a personal attack to me... now if he'd said something like, "you were'nt there so you have no room to critize anything you fucking knob!" Now that's an attack! lol j/k man! Blues! Merrick
PLFXpert 0 #18 August 15, 2002 Geez...didn't mean to start a cat fight. Since I started this thread, here's my two sense: Any web cam is better than NO CAM! I realize it's not the best coverage, but I'm just stoked I get to see anything at all because I can't be there. It makes me feel a littel closer to the action.
