SudsyFist 0 #1 August 20, 2002 i don't know why, but starting at about 7k agl, beads of sweat bubble up on my tightened brow, my hands and teeth begin to clench, and i get real fidgety. the urge is coming on, quickly growing as we climb. by 9.5k, i'm overwhelmed. biting a hole in my lip, i have to just let go... ...and sing. (or try to, anyway) sometimes, fellow jumpers join in with arms raised, passion flaring like a firestorm -- the laverne and shirley theme seemed to be a hit. more often, though, i get these blank, expressionless stares. or worse, horribly spiteful glares accompanied by rather obscene finger gestures... look. if someone starts singing some gay-ass reo speedwagon song on one of *your* loads, PLEASE HUMOR THEM AND SING ALONG! here, i'll show you: and i meant every word i said when i said that i love you i meant that i love you forever (everyone) and i'm gonna keep on lovin' you cos it's the only thing i wanna do i don't wanna sleep i just wanna keep on lovin' you... (repeat) anyone else here have this, uh, problem, or am i alone in my dementia? seriously! i think we need more singalongs on the way to altitude; the whole take-a-nap-and-breathe-some-ass thing is getting way old... what do y'all think? steve

quade 4 #4 August 20, 2002 Quotei think we need more singalongs on the way to altitude; the whole take-a-nap-and-breathe-some-ass thing is getting way old... what do y'all think? I think it depends on what load you're on. If I'm just fun jumping, heck yeah I'll sing along. If I'm with a team and they are there practicing, then they don't need the added distraction. What might look like sleep to you, may actually be intense concentration or quiet relaxation but in either case it's almost definately mental preparation for a jump.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

happythoughts 0 #10 August 20, 2002 A while back, people were always saying things like "you must be crazy/stupid to skydive" and the answer became "Duh!". A lot of the Muffs that I jump with have come up with a way to sing songs. Use "Duh" as the words to sing songs like the old Hawaii 5-0 theme or the original Mission Impossible theme. Probably the most original was the a classical tune used on a Bugs Bunny show where Bugs was a barber.

Let me know what spring is like on jupiter and mars...[/singing] Lets put together a list of the 10 most apropriate songs to sing in the plane!!! There are only 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't.

happythoughts 0 #22 August 20, 2002 My all time fav is "Those were the days" - the theme song from "All in the family". I have a buddy who does the "Edith" part and it is punishingly hilarious. Also, "Where, oh where, are you tonight..." from "Hee Haw". The tandems love that one.
