kevin922 0 #1 August 20, 2002 Well my new job is sending me to Zurich in October.. was wanting to do some skydiving - having never been to zurich and not knowing the geography of the place can anyone suggest a place to go, rates, and weather conditions over there? Thanks a bunch! Kevin
wingnut 0 #2 August 20, 2002 dude, sorry i can't be more help, i always was on the western part of switzerland. i know there is a dropzone in bulle but that is a ways from zurich. try http://www.skydiveworld.com/english/switzerland.htm and http://www.skydive.ch/start.htm if you speack german it will be much easier for you to find these places but as any determined skydiver will do..you'll find em...and as a note, from my 2 years in europe..most placesarn't open durring the week. the one site i pulled up look like it might be within train or bus distance of downtown zurich with not to long a ride...remeber though your probly gona pay around30-35usd for one jump there, depending on how the swiss franc is doing compared to the dollar. p.s. downtown zurich is a really nice place to visit. i was ther for a few days a couple years ago and had a blast. the park along the river where it goes into a y is very pretty and the bars alng the strees have some very good beer...just be carefull, i was drunk and though i knew what i was ordering (in german i might add) and ended up with a pizza with anchovies...not what i wanted on my pizza..lol have fun!! ______________________________________ "i have no reader's digest version"
skydiverbrian 0 #3 August 21, 2002 That's awesome! Zurich is so cool. My experience has been that the jumping is a little different. First, very few people outside the big cities speak English. German is helpful, but the Swiss speak their own version of German, so even proper German (called high-German) isn't widely used. Second, they have a whole different licensing structure - they very often don't recognize US licensing. But it's a beautiful country, so if you can get to see it from 14K, go for it. And the food and beer is awesome, too! In a world full of people, only some want to fly... isn't that crazy! --Seal
