Craig 0 #1 September 3, 2002 Okay, I always get spam mail with various attachments and just end up deleting them. Today I recieved mail with the W32 whatever virus from the "senders" quade skypetey Freefall very likely not the real senders and probibally has sent itself out as these people through someones address book. Just FYI I have never sent an e-mail to any of these people, but someone must have my e-mail addy in addition to those above for me to receive the virus I believe. Wierd thing is the in box these showed up in I usually don't use for an address for the people I know. Just thought I would bring it to whomevers attention. quade 4 #2 September 3, 2002 I'd also be curious if this is a "Windows only" virus . . . I'm pretty confidant that my email at work, the only Windows machine I deal with, hasn't been compromised by a virus, but ya never know. All my other computers are Macs.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
Michele 1 #3 September 3, 2002 From Symantec's website... Quote Although Macintosh computers cannot be infected by this worm, it can be passed through Macintosh email to Windows computers. Also, if you share a network with Windows computers, files could be placed on your hard drive. For additional information, read the document Are Macintoshes affected by the Nimda virus? Here's the link mentioned above http://service4.symantec.com/SUPPORT/num.nsf/docid/200 Recently, I have had a slew of Klez/blended attack virii come into my computer, from some really odd addies...haven't figured out who's infected yet, though... AndyMan 7 #4 September 3, 2002 Yup, it is a "windows only" - specifically, it's an "outlook only" virus. It sends mail from (a) to (b), with a "From:" address of (c). Both (b) and (c) are in (a)'s address book. (a) is the person actually with the virus. If you take a look at the headers... which in outlook you can do by going "View / Options", you can look at the first "Received" line, and find out the ISP of the person who actually has the virus. Frequently that can tell you who the personal actually is. _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
