youngest tandem passenger?

Recommended Posts

I've just watched a video of Dave Morris taking a kid who can't have been more than eight for a tandem skydive. He loved it, but surely thats totally illegal? I don't know what the regulations on age regarding skydiving in other countries is, but here in the UK you have to be sixteen to legally leave a flying plane. Can anyone tell me what country that was done in, cause i'm a bit pissed off that i had to wait until i was sixteen to jump when i could have at least done a tandem when i was a little nipper.

Seriously, an eight year old isn't old enough to realize the dangers of skydiving. In Norway you have to be 18 or 16 with parental aprovement. Personally, I think even 16 is a bit young. Maybe not for tandem, but at least for takeing a license.
As for loving it, sure. I would have absolutely digged getting a tandem at the age of eight. I would also love to drive a car, fighter jet, bungee jump, scuba dive, base jumping and probably even would have tried landing a wingsuit. The possibility of getting seriously injured or die would barely have crossed my mind...

I can't remember the names of the jumpers, but I do remember reading in Skydiving where a couple took their 3(?!) year old on a tandem. Dad was the tandem master, mom flew camera.
