moodyskydiver 0 #1 September 4, 2002 I had a friend ask me today if she could jump eventhough shes pregnant. She is in good physical health and has no complications.I'm still pretty new and didnt know what to tell her. What are the restrictions? "...just an earthbound misfit, I." nws01 0 #2 September 4, 2002 She needs to do a naked jump and the tandem master needs to have his penis in her so the baby does not fall out of her.
freeflir29 0 #3 September 4, 2002 I have seen women jump up until about 5-6 months. The one most recently has LOTS of jumps. Couple thousand I think. I wouldn't recommend it for a beginner. I have seen others that chose to stop as soon as they found out. It's a personal choice really.

sar911 0 #5 September 4, 2002 Tell her to ask her doctor, and when the doctor stops laughing I think she will have her answer. Just think about the amount of g's you pull on opening even if it is not a hard opening, then the posibility of a bad landing that always exist. Preg. only last for 9 mo. Skydiving last for a lifetime! Why take the risk.

wlie 0 #8 September 4, 2002 Jessie Farrington was jumping while she was expecting Andy. So I've heard. Maybe that's the missing formula to the making of a great skydiver. My other ride is the relative wind.
wmw999 2,589 #9 September 4, 2002 Been there, done that. My son has 50 prenatal jumps. If she's a newbie, the answer is no, she shouldn't jump. If she isn't, then she should find a doctor who can intelligently advise her on her particular case. Regardless, she should ratchet her jumping down a notch (which is why newbies shouldn't do it at all). For those who say nay, never, nohow, noway. What about if you live down a bumpy road? What about women who work in jobs demanding physical labor? What about driving in potentially-dangerous city traffic? You can't quit everything, and the whole idea of risk management is to understand both the risks and the consequences. There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)
moodyskydiver 0 #10 September 4, 2002 This friend is a wuffo wanting to do a tandem. Thats why i was asking. I told her to talk to her Dr., the JM and/or the DZ. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
freeflir29 0 #11 September 4, 2002 QuoteThis friend is a wuffo wanting to do a tandem Personally, I would advise against it. I don't think THAT BIG of an adrenaline rush would be good. Seems like a lot more stress than she should be under. Just my .02C It is still HER decision...and something she might want to discuss with her Dr.
