SkymonkeyONE 4 #51 September 2, 2002 Revised: 0:1:0 After I stopped paying attention this afternoon, thinking it was a total wash, the weather finally broke. We put up three Otter loads before the end of the day with myself and Seamonkey getting there for a last-lift BirdMan jump. Noice! Chuck
Zennie 0 #52 September 2, 2002 Ah, what the heck, I haven't done this for a while... 0 (and probably will stay that way for quite some time):12:2 Nice thing about being single is the second number. The not-so-nice thing about being single is the first number. Got my pre-second jump on a cross-braced canopy (Ramon's FX). And no, I'm not in any hurry to downsize again... I just wanted to try it. Also clocked my fastest speed dive yet... 231 TAS. Yeah I know, not super-impressive, but it was still fun. - Z "Always be yourself... unless you suck." - Joss Whedon

vidiot 0 #60 September 3, 2002 Matt, I guess they fooled you into buying beer. Running over the beer line is ok, it's the first contact that counts. At least those are the rules over here. freeflir29 0 #61 September 3, 2002 1:6:1 I might have owed two cases but I'm not buying beer just because this was my first PRE DECLARED night jump on a sport parachute. Pretty cool..launched a 3 way flower and turned into a sit camp fire. It was nice until about halfway through the canopy ride A COMPLETE FUCKING MORON starts spiraling right over top of the landing area. Long story short. I got to land a Stilletto in complete darkness. Left a nice divot and 13 Ft long skid marks with my right knee. However, I did stand up the landing once I popped it back up. Both knees are black and blue and very sore. Nothing broken. Thank God for the "Skybus" 170!!!! Had one or two people try to hurt me in Free Fall but my Jedi skills are strong! Owed the case of beer for making my FIRST $5 in skydiving. I did a prep jump with a guy that wants to get his coach rating. So I got a free jump and $5 for a pack job. Kinda cool!!! Plus I had fun doing the jump to boot. I kinda like that.... The weather could have been better. Both Saturday and Sunday it was cloudy most of the day. Around 5 PM or so it would clear out enough to get a few jumps in. Ended up doing LOTS of Tandems Sunday night. Monday was on and off for the first half but cleared out nicely by 2 PM or so. Of course....it's perfect blue skies out right now....on TUESDAY!!!! All in all...interesting weekend but I would really appreciate it if people would STOP trying to kill me.

I have been freeflying for most of those 600 and yesterday someone talked me into doing RW.... Well, they put me in a 16-way!!! I was in the base of course, but we turned 4 points! Pretty cool!!! Then I was put on a 22-way! That was cool too! Owe beer for first 16-way and first 22-way. Don't worry, I'm not leaving the dark side for good, just thought I'd see if I could still arch! skydiverbrian 0 #69 September 3, 2002 I guess. Maybe the term is regional. I've been to boogies where the exits are the same as what we do at home, but just called different things. lummy 4 #70 September 3, 2002 60:13: too many to count.... My weekend started Wed nite with a sunset load at Davis. Picked up Matt and TOM (The Other Matt) Friday at Byron and we did a 3 way out of the King air, Matt falls like a ROCK BTW :) Stopped for lunch in the middle of East Bum Fuck only to find that they would NOT serve us beer, can you beleive it? They wouldn't let us buy it from their convenience store and drink it either... MATT was secretly happy about that for some reason. It actually worked out well because called Taft Skydiving and found out that we were only 40 minutes from them. SO, we visited the coolest little Cessna DZ I've been to yet. We hung out and BS'ed with Dave and Corky for awhile then went up on the longest weridest flight to altitude I've ever been on. The best part was being picked up after landing by a converted hearse.. Back on the road, we stopped at Miche's and went right to LAX to get Nate and got into Perris around 11:30 that nite to meet Seb, da BYTCH, and Betsy's crew.... Made 6 jumps on Sat and 4 on Sunday, pretty much ALL zoo loads but fun as hell... The best ones being the 5 way shuttlecock that we held til about 8 grand, the 6 way greased safe that was all over the place and the first Hybrid which went off perfectly until I didn't get my legs down and we ended up flipping... Met a bunch of great people and had a great time... I didn't really get a chance to spend a lot of time with everyone but it was wonderful meeting all of ya.... Next time.... :) Oh... and WE SUCK!!!!!I promise not to TP Davis under canopy.. Cornholio 0 #73 September 3, 2002 0:12:too many WoooHoo!! Just what Lummy said - a great weekend with GREAT people. I posted a few pics of the TAFT DZ. You can see the small building that IS the dz, the hearst for picking up people, and the slow-ass (I am so spoiled ) Cessna that took us up to 11k. I think Jams can best describe the plane flight up to alt, since he was helping the pilot look for stuff on the floor of the plane - it was hilarious. Too many firsts to list, but my favories were probably the 9-way tube jump, the greased safe, and the 5-way head down, and nailing my sit at Taft for more than my previous 2 seconds (shorts and long-sleeve shirt did the trick.) True, they ended up mostly being zoo loads, but we had a kick-ass time. Hey Lummy, where did you get 13 jumps? Did you do another yesterday ? 2 + 6 + 4 = 12 And you got laid 60 times ?!??! Butthead: Whoa! Burritos for breakfast! Beavis: Yeah! Yeah! Cool! bellyflier on the dz.com hybrid record jump
freeflir29 0 #74 September 3, 2002 Doesn't that plane look an awful lot like the one from "Fandango" Checking out those pics sure makes me feel spoiled with a 15,000 SqFt hangar and a pretty Otter....
Scoby 0 #75 September 3, 2002 Taft, CA is pretty much the most godforsaken place on the planet. It's populated mainly by people with mullets who drive camaros. It even has it's own viral lung disease that only happens there called "valley fever." It lives in the dust, apparently. How do I know this? Well, I jump at a DZ just down the road. At least our planes have paint on them, though.
