DYEVOUT 0 #1 September 9, 2002 COMPLETED JUMP #10 (LOW SOLO) ON SATURDAY, AND CAME OFF A.F.F. STUDENT STATUS - YIPPEE! FOLKS AT THE DZ INFORMED ME THAT THIS IS A BEER OCCASION, AND SEVERAL OF THEM SUGGESTED BRANDS. MY QUESTION: IS THE BUYER OF THE SUDS TO DECIDE THE BRAND, AND IF NOT, - WHO IS QUALIFIED TO MAKE SUCH AN IMPORTANT DECISION? ----------------=8^)---------------------- "I think that was the wrong tennis court." You will definately impress your new skydiving pals with the good stuff in green bottles or with a mexican flavor to it. But remember this too Cheap beer is better than no beer. No beer is a sin. Skygods keep track of those who never bring beer and someday they will burn in hell for their wrong doings. The one exception to this that I have found and somewhat agreed with is at Boogies where the beer is paid for and included in admission. In the event that you ever have a "first time" at a boogie and you're not quite sure how to share this experience with your sky friends a bottle of tequilla will suffice. This is only because it's a Boogie and there is already an ample supply of beer. Since you're a new graduate, buy what you think your jms would like (or ask them). Green bottles (of the imported variety) are generally appreciated. Coronas are probably next in line, but don't forget the lime! Oddly enough, at my dz, the beer of choice for a lot of the experienced "skygod" types is Miller High Life! If I want to suck up to these guys, or thank them for some fun skydives, I'll buy a 30 pack. But for my beer occasions, its the good stuff, just like I preach to the newbies!!!! congrats! maura
 Kennedy 0 #9 September 10, 2002 Being still of the new guy quality [or so they still tell me] I can say buying beer in itself is good. Buying enough beer is better. Buying enough good beer is truly special. This will take a while, if you've just hit double digits, but it will be worth it. Remember, you will drink more than you will pay for. No style points for that one..... Not the greatest accuracy, either - between runway and trees, about halfway down. Need to work on judging height, executed landing pattern too high, and went loooonngg. ----------------=8^)---------------------- "I think that was the wrong tennis court." I brought an assortment of homebrews (blond ale, a stout, and an IPA) to the new DZ I just joined, and it was a big hit.
