skymut 0 #1 September 10, 2002 Don't know that many will find this too interesting, but I dug out, loaded and have been playing my old copies of Doom and Doom II this afternoon. How much fun! It reminds me of all the time I wasted back in college. hmmmm, study for tomorrow's test, or spend a few more hours blowing away all those chewbacca looking critters?...chewbacca killin' it is I know I still have ALL episodes of commander keen around here somewhere. Those were the best. Nothing like trying to swim away from a big, fat Dopefish. Ah, the DOS days. Matt A well-informed person is somebody who has the same views and opinions as yours. Cornholio 0 #3 September 11, 2002 OLD ? Heh, those aren't old... I recently just completed building a MAME cocktail cabinet. You know, the type of arcade game that you see at pizza parlors, bars, etc... I will try to post pics if anyone is interested. I also had a friend send me ALL the video games that MAME supports. Currently it's over 3500. For those of you that don't know what MAME is... it's a Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator. It emulates Arcade games like Mr. Do, Donkey Kong, Space Invaders, and any other arcade game you can think of - foreign games and domestic ones too. You can grab a copy from www.mame.dk. Disclaimer: Owning MAME is not illegal, however using the game ROMS without the correct licensing options is. You can find lots of information out there on MAME and the ROMs or PM me and I can point you in the right direction. Butthead: Whoa! Burritos for breakfast! Beavis: Yeah! Yeah! A perfect score is 114,000 points, and somebody at NASA pulled it off. Keen was a great game. The first computer game to have color smooth scrolling backgrounds, and it got a little company called iD Software started.

skymut 0 #8 September 11, 2002 Heck yeah I remeber wolfenstein 3d, nukem and jill. I still have copies of the first two mentioned there. It has been years since I played these. What I found scarey with the Doom games is that I still remember most of the cheat codes. Of course, after surviving numerous head-to-head combats In Quake Arena, plowing through Doom at 'nightmare' level seems like a cake walk - cheat codes, I don't need no stinking cheat codes. skymut 0 #9 September 11, 2002 I looked at MAME a few years back. I might have to have another look at it again. My wife bought me a 'arcade' collection for my Dreamcast - it has Dig-Dug, Galaxian, Galaga, Ms. Pac and Pac Man and Pole Position. It's a lot of fun, but not quite the same as standing (or sitting) in front of the old cabinets. Post some pics when you get them, I'd like to have a gander.
