happythoughts 0 #1 September 10, 2002 Initially, skydiving training must be done with the seriousness it deserves. The people training you are professionals. On another thread, someone brought up the name of their instructor and I got to thinking... In skydiving, it is very possible to have a national-level competitor or world-record holder give you your initial instruction. Have you ever thought about how cool that is ? Kind of like have a Wimbledon champ teach you your first tennis lesson. Even around the dz, think of the people that you can casually chat with and ask questions. skybytch 273 #2 September 10, 2002 QuoteWe are pretty lucky. Yeah we are. I love how accessible most of the best skydivers in the world are. Want to learn to freefly? The best in the world are available to coach you. Want to learn to swoop? The best swoopers in the world will gladly coach you. Want to do big way RW? Competition 4 way? Big diamond CRW? Yup, same situation. And it's not all about money either. Go to any major RW competition and you'll see the best in the world working with other teams - for nothing. You can get world class coaching and load organizing in almost every disciplines at many major boogies - for no extra charge. Yeah we're lucky. Take full advantage of what "the best" have to offer, then pass what you learn on to others.

My first AFF instructor was a world record holder relaxing at a cessna dz. I am still in touch with all my AFF instructors. It just goes to the fact that people have a passion for this sport that I have not seen in anything else - not even close. So many people give back to the sport. No matter what people are doing, I think they should get happiness from the success of others.
