quatorze 1 #1 September 3, 2002 I am making a trip, for an end of summer vacation to the North Carlolina shore and was wondering if any and any information on this dropzone in Longbeach NC? I have heard rumor that a freind of mine that goes by the name of Rob D, is the DZM there? Any help would be greatly appreciated I'm not afriad of dying, I'm afraid of never really living- Erin Engle
SkymonkeyONE 4 #2 September 3, 2002 It's about 90 miles from here, but there are some people that live in Fayetteville who drive all the way out there to work, and some who go that far just to fun jump. The end of the runway drops off into the intracoastal waterway and the barrier island is just on the other side of that. I have not been there, but by all accounts it is a pleasant place to skydive. I think it's weekend-only, but I may be wrong. I think they have a website: www.skydivecoastalcarolinas.com, so check it out. Chuck
JeffGordon 0 #3 September 3, 2002 I've jumped there a few times. They are a pretty small drop zone with a couple of 182's. There weren't that many fun jumpers whenever I was there, but I had a blast. The visual is so good because you are right over the beach. No beach landings while I was there because someone had hooked in on the beach. They are very carefull about wing loading and weighed me before I jumped (They won't allow above 1.4 with under 500 jumps)
quatorze 1 #4 September 4, 2002 Thx guys, I really appreciate the info, yet I am still trying to find out if one of my old insturctors is running the jpint or not. I lost track of him a little over a year ago and the rumors have placed him there. If any body knows who is managing the DZ I would love a PM concerning it. quatorze 1 #5 September 12, 2002 GUys let me tell you, I went last Sunday and it was unreal. The winds were kind of screwy early so I chilled out at the beach with my girlfriend, like 5 minutes away from the DZ. When the winds died down I got a lift to five grand and just took a scenic jump. The visuals are distractingly beautiful, the water, the beach, ...unreal. Big props to Howie, Splash, Nicki, Carmo, and Brian... great people and and balst of a DZ. If you are ever anywhere near Brunswick NC, get there, they are no longer jsut a weekend DZ. I will be taking a trip from Charleston again soon, and this time I am bringing the gang. Thanks for the advice I'm not afriad of dying, I'm afraid of never really living- Erin Engle
