Viking 0 #29 September 10, 2002 On the Manta 288's i load it at .74:1 On the PD 260 9cell i load at .82:1 I would like to slowly move down to a 170 and stay there for a while. I would be loading that at 1.2:1 but at my curent rate of jumping its gonna take me a while.I swear you must have footprints on the back of your helmet - chicagoskydiver My God has a bigger dick than your god -George Carlin
lummy 4 #30 September 10, 2002 QuoteI guess then that the big hype is to load the canopy to around 1.5 or higher and pray to hell that the thing holds till you get to the ground? UHmmm.. NO.... It'll hold til you get down, It's the ground you need to worry about... The higher the wingloading, the faster and more responsive the canopy will be. for the inexperienced, this can be way too much to handle. Kinda like driving a maserati on the Autobahn just after you get your license. 1.21 on an Omega 180I promise not to TP Davis under canopy.. AndyMan 7 #31 September 10, 2002 I've suggested a wing-loading entry a few times. I don't really understand why people object. It seems to me that it's just like any other field on the profile, if you don't want it published, then don't fill it in. 1.5 - 1.6 under my Stiletto, depending on how much beer I drink. _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead. Kris 0 #37 September 10, 2002 Quoteholy shit man what do you jump? Derek jumps a VX-60, last I heard. I saw him land it at Skydive Houston last December when I was down visiting Brittany. I heard the canopy when he was still a couple of hundred feet up. It sounded like the hounds of hell were after him the way it was slicing through the air. To this day, I have never seen anyone come in as hot as he did for that landing. Impressive is an understatement. Derek, thanks for the show. FallinWoman 1 #40 September 10, 2002 I, too, would love to know people's wingloadings. I would rather tell you what my wingloading is than tell you the size of my canopy. So I don't really have to tell you my weight if I just give you the wingloading number (1.05) and tell you that I jump a Sabre.... Anne ~Anne I'm a Doll!!!! Magistr8 0 #42 September 10, 2002 well I still use the DZ gear so according to the calculation my wing load would be .725 which sounds like now like I should take their advice and dwn size to a 170 from a 200 "Impossible is a word to be found only in the dictionary of fools." pilotdave 0 #43 September 10, 2002 1:1.25 (aka .8:1). Having plenty of fun, so I see no reason to downsize any time soon. I load my reserve at about 1.08:1. Dave
