JohnRich 4 #79 September 16, 2002 Quote*** Probably the same reason I didn't stay after 9 years... Got tired of the bullshit, bored with the mission, and definately tired of moving 4 times in 5 years. Yes, and me too. It was bad enough having to take the BS, but then when I got to be Sergeant, they expected me to dish it out, and I just didn't see the necessity for it. Those are the kinds of things that weren't mentioned when someone extolled a list of grand benefits that the Gold Knights enjoy. As anyone who has served knows, that list ain't so grand in relation to all the down side of serving in the Armed Forces.
SkymonkeyONE 4 #80 September 16, 2002 <------20 years and two months active duty and still counting. I can't wait to retire, but man, I have done some interesting shit, you can believe that. Chuck
brianthomas1966 0 #81 September 16, 2002 This thread is like arguing politics and religion! My dad's retired SF - he made 902 military jumps but, never did any freefall. I started skydiving last year. He's a hip replacement too old to start now. I wish I had started skydiving 10 years ago, so he could've jumped with me. SkymonkeyONE 4 #82 September 16, 2002 Anyway, the GK's will be back home, here in Raeford, very soon. I can't wait to slap my buddy Chris Talbert on the back and congratulate him on a job well done. Chuck
Chief 0 #83 September 16, 2002 I agree, they should be allowed to compete. Plus, they are the PR unit for the Army. Having just jumped with them two weeks ago, I found them to be professional on camera and off. After all, they are just people like all of us. Sure they cut up and have fun out of the public's eye, but what profession doesn't? Above all off camera, they were fun, helpful and of the utmost safety minded.
