Sebazz1 2 #1 August 13, 2002 3.5 days Since I have made a serious bid a ridding myself of smoking cigarettes (no smokes at all). I feel real sh*tty right now. 10 years of nicotine and *wham* cold turkey. I know I can make it. I know I can. I really want to. I need to. I was told the first three days where tough. But if someone does see me getting close to breaking down at the DZ this weekend please WHACK THE MUTHA FAKIN SHIT OUTTA ME!! Thanks. Just a little up tight right now. Just a little up tight right now. Just a little up tight right now.

pop 0 #3 August 13, 2002 You can do it, man. I got your back. This however poses a problem on us smokers. You ask us to help you quit. But by smoking around you we will only do the opposite, making you want to smoke even more. I guess we'll just have to SMACK you extra hard. You can do it!!!7 ounce wonders, music and dogs that are not into beer
lummy 4 #4 August 13, 2002 you better stinkin believe I will!!! I went cold turkey, and the one thing that really got me thru it was a)recognizing everytime I had the urge for one that it was part of being an "ex smoker" and B) being on a filed trip chaperoning 3 10 year old at the Exploratoium... the Nicotine withdrawal buzz was kinda fun ;) REpeat after me.... "I am an ex smoker now, I will have these urges which I must resist..." And if that doesn't work, yelling at innocent bystanders works tooI promise not to TP Davis under canopy.. Deuce 1 #6 August 13, 2002 Hang in there! Pretty soon three packs will equal a jump. Think of all the jump money you are saving! Dude! A pack a day for a year is a brand-new-rig! rig! rig! rig!
nws01 0 #7 August 13, 2002 Sebazz, I know you can do it. If you can do it I can do it. I have been wanting to quit. Although you have 3 days ahead of me. You could be a inspiration to me. If you smoke just one more you will not be able to stop. It will get worse before it gets better. But the end result will save you money and your health. PLFXpert 0 #8 August 13, 2002 Sebazz, cold turkey is THE WAY TO GO! BZ just kicked the nasty habit 10 months ago, cold turkey and he hasn't had one since. I must tell you though, the first few days are rough...but it will get worse before it gets better. He still wants one, but he said it's a lot easier now to think of something else. Hang in there. You can do it. Oh, and if you have a girlfriend, do what I did for BZ, anytime you want a cigarrette, have some sex instead. Guaranteed to take your mind off it for a while AND it's fun for the both of you. He he he...I was stoked when he quit so I thought I'd have fun with it. The worst that could happen is you become addicted to sex. Ha ha ha.

Enrique 0 #17 August 13, 2002 I am 100% behind you. I quit cold turkey 4.5 years ago (after smoking one packa day for about 8-10 years - started smoking when I was 12 yrs. old-). Not even a puff in 4.5 years. It takes a lot of huevos 'cause when you are drinking beer and having fun, the natural thing to do is to light up. Be strong... if I could do it, you can do it too. Good luck.
Enrique 0 #18 August 13, 2002 Pretty soon three packs will equal a jump. Think of all the jump money you are saving!*** Not only that, but you regain your sense of taste and smell. It is awesome how, after a few months of not smoking, you can acknowledge that Big-Macs are not really gourmet burgers, but they REALLY taste like crap! Also, you will notice that all the other smokers (not you Sebazz, of course) have really really really but really bad breath. See ya

JohnnyD 0 #20 August 14, 2002 You can do it. Stay cold - no patches. You are too far along to start patches. After 21 days, the nicotine has completely left your system. All physical usges will have passed. The mental part is the tougher part. I quit dipping seven years ago and I still dream about it. Stay strong - it gets easier, but don't be fooled. Three weeks and its just a matter of your own will. You're already half way there! Good Luck!

lummy 4 #22 August 14, 2002 I think you might be wrong about the # of days it takes, I tried zyban (an antidepressant ) to try and quit (and failed).Prt of getting the prescription was a conference with a nurse who explained significant milestones when quitting. She also explained that the first three days I should drink lots of water because that helps flush the nicotine out but it would be completely out of my system after the third day. I thought after 21 days, your lungs starts to rebuild itself. It was a couple of years ago tho, Either way, Keep it going Seb :)I promise not to TP Davis under canopy.. FliegendeWolf 0 #23 August 14, 2002 Congrats, Sebazz! My last cigarette was on August 17, 1998 and I haven't looked back! A lot of people have been mentioning a 21 day span to rid the body of nicotine. I never knew this, but it makes sense: the third week was always the one that got me until I finally quit. So, if during your third week of quitting, you feel like you'll never be able to make it, just wait a few more days. It's all downhill from there! One thing that helped me quit was a monstrous lifestyle change (I also stopped shrooming and smoking pot, then, too). This isn't feasible for everyone, but it helped me. I quit smoking just before I moved from one town to another. This was helpful because cigarette cravings are all about cues. If you hang out with people with whom you've always smoked, the cue will still be there. If you hang out with new people, even if they smoke, you won't feel as tempted to light up, even if they are, because there is no history with them. Try to figure out what situations make you crave and try to avoid them. Hang in there, man, you'll get through it! bbarnhouse 0 #25 August 14, 2002 Sebazz~ If you can skydive dude......you can do anything! Now that you have passed day 3 it's more about the habit of having something in your hands....(NO we aren't going there!!!) get a small rock, a rubber band, anything to fiddle with. Try chewing gum (sugarless of course) when the urge to smoke becomes really intense. Cold turkey works if you are really ready to quit. Now about that wanting to harm something small and defenseless........
