interesting article on the "airdriving"

Recommended Posts

Read this interesting piece on autoweek. It talks about the guys out in AZ that are dropping the cars from the skyvan.

Personally, the thought of being on that greyhound sounds mighty interesting.

Gasson, who is known for leaping from planes without wearing his parachute (he’s done this 16 times, taking a mid-air parachute handoff from a fellow ’chutist),

You know, I can possibly see someone doing this once, but 16 TIMES ??? OMG - you would really really really have to trust that friend to hand you your rig.

Dude, until your post I did not even conceive of the "frIEnd" snatching the rig BACK at the last moment and shouting "NEENER!"

Sick, man, sick.

If he's willing to jump w/o a rig on and put it on in freefall, I wonder if he'll do a Mr. Bill w/o a rig on and ride it all the way down.

Unless he's done some new stunts, he has never jumped without being _attached_ to a parachute. In the videos I've seen of that stunt he jumps while attached via webbing down his arm to an internal harness. The big danger I see is not "dropping" the rig but dealing with a mal.

I know someone who landed a Mr Bill (tho he did have a rig on). This was late 70's/early 80's. I don't think either of them was walking very well for several weeks after they did it!
