New Moved Threads Functionality

Recommended Posts

Heya all,

I've added a feature that I think will help with some of the confusion that sets in every time a thread's been moved. In the past, when we moved a thread it simply disappeared from the forum it was in and showed up in another forum. Problem with this is that there was nothing to tell people what just happened to their thread....

In this forum look for a recent post with the subject "equipment options". I moved that one to Gear and Rigging. From looking at that post you should be able to see how it works now.

1) The icon changes to show the post has been moved
2) The word "Moved" is added to the front of the subject line
3) The subject line is linked to the post in the new forum so you can jump there
4) You cannot reply to the post in the original forum anymore

That's it. Hope this helps. :)

Ok, please tell me I'm not the only one who had to read that more than once, and then spend a few minutes trying to find that thread. :P

Now that I've figured it out, it sounds like a good addition.

No, it took me a minute too, well that and the fact that the thread was on the second page. What really got me was that it actually jumps to the new forum.

Thanks HH

Confused me too.

What's confusing? The functionality or my explanation? The functionality is what it is... not rocket science at all. If the explanation is unclear help me understand what you don't understand and I'll try again...

Maybe it's just me, when I read your post, I expected to see the thread in this forum except it would be locked or a post with a link or something like that. I didn't expect to click on the thread link and be in a different forum all together. Does that make sense?

I guess what threw me off was #4, where you stated that you couldn't post to the thread anymore in this forum.

Again, it will link to the thread in the other forum and you will not be able to post to that thread in THIS forum anymore.

You used big computery words like, "icon" and "subject line", and words that had more than 2 syllables. PLUS, you made us go all the way to the second page to find the thread you were talking about. That was WAY too much work! ;)

Ok, just to help everyone out, now the thread to which he was referring is now on the third page.:P
