dbattman 0 #1 September 21, 2002 Which is better- the XBox, PS2, or Gamecube? I was out today and considered buying one to travel with.
aufreefly 0 #2 September 21, 2002 Well the XBOX is by far the best hardware...but it is kind of large to travel with. The playstation 2 is considerably slower, but since most of the games out there that are on the xbox are available for the playstation2, the games are toned down to accomodate the playstations slow processor. The gamecube is small and easy to travel with, but has fewer titles available. I would go with the xbox if you can lug it around.
VisionAir 0 #3 September 21, 2002 I own an xbox and it is very nice but i do wish i had gotten the PS2....More game variety (for the kids and such) But the xbox does rule.... Huh?!? What cloud?!? Oh that!!! That's just Industrial Haze Alex M.
harro 0 #4 September 21, 2002 I have owned both. XBOX is far better in speed and playablility. But hold your grandmothers.... there is something better on the Horizon........PS3.Jumpy Jumpy??
indyz 1 #5 September 21, 2002 I only own a PS2, but I prefer it over the XBox and Gamecube. At this time, PS2 still has the lead in game quality. They don't have the best graphics, for sure, but I feel that the overall quality of PS2 games is better. Plus I can play all of the great PSX games on it (Bushido Blade or Metal Slug X anyone?). That said, the Gamecube controller totally kicks ass in some games, sucks in others. XBox's standard controller blows hard. It you end up getting one, be prepared to shell out the extra bucks for the more comfortable S Type controllers. The PS2 controller is the old standby that works fine for most games. Other people have covered this before, but I'll touch on it again: XBox has the best graphics, bar none. Gamecube is second, and PS2 comes in third. If I had to start all over again buying systems, I would get a PS2 first, Gamecube second (Pikmin rocks), and then an Xbox.

SkyDolphin 0 #9 September 22, 2002 There are something like 128 new titles coming out for XBOX. I"m trying to convince someone they need to do a flying/skydiving game. Rhonda

If you have large hands (like mine), the standard controller is great. Kids can't really use them, but they are very comfortable in large adult hands. I have an XBOX, and I love it, but I am jealous of my friend with a PS2 because of all the great games. Many older PS games (which you can play on PS2) are tons of fun, while many XBOX games seem like they were rushed to market (which they were). Well-made XBOX games such as Project Gotham Racing and Halo really show off the XBOX. Nothing on PS2 can touch them. However, PS2 will play tons more titles, many of which are available very cheap at the used game stores. AggieDave 6 #13 September 23, 2002 Yeah, but the X-Box's selection is getting better and personally I found their controllers comfy. The graphics on the X-Box are the best you can get in a consol system as of now, much better then PS2 and Gamecube. AND you can boot Linux on the X-Box...--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
SkySlut 0 #14 September 23, 2002 dude, get PS2 and the game Navy Seals, they have a really cool scene where they skydive into the area where they need to kill a bunch of people....great game!
AggieDave 6 #15 September 23, 2002 The PS2 also has this gay-ass skydiving game available. Rented it once, played for 10 minutes, got pissed and started drinking beer instead.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." Slowfaller 0 #16 September 23, 2002 I've never played Xbox so I don't have an opinion on it but what led me to the PS2 is the DVD player in it. For $200 you can get an awesome video game system and a DVD player....not bad Chris --"Someday you will die and somehow somethings going to steal your carbon" -MM
indyz 1 #17 September 23, 2002 The other systems also play DVD and although it's a matter of preference, I think the Xbox and Gamecube do it better.
Slowfaller 0 #18 September 23, 2002 Don't you have to purchase some sort of aftermarket add on for the DVD player to work? Nevertheless, PS1 was awesome and PS2 hasn't let me down. Game cube seems to be marketed towards younger people as far as games go. Dead To Right or something like that looks awesome for Xbox, have you've seen/played that? --"Someday you will die and somehow somethings going to steal your carbon" -MM
FallingILweenie 0 #19 September 23, 2002 Dead to Rights is a bad Max Payne ripoff. Halo is like crack...especially multiplayer. X-box has really neat graphics..... But ps2 is where it's at. Gran Turismo 3, Madden, and in october, Gran theft auto vice city. and anyone remember Robotech? There is a xbox/ps2 robotech game coming out tomorrow i think! bloo skies Tomas
