Not to be a hater, but doesn't the new C6 look a lot like the RX-8? I'm still excited, though. It seems that GM is finally getting some decent product.

But, y'know, the cool kids are going to be driving the Cadillax XLR (which is built on the C6 platform).***

I bought my STS less than a year old for over 20,000 off of sticker with only 12K miles. NEVER buy a new Caddy. However, this car kicks ass and hauls ass. For a little more than a new decked out Accord I got a 300HP Pimp Mobile with GPS, power everything, voice activated phone, OnStar, etc. I just had the windows tinted Limo dark all around and intend to complete the Pimp image with fuzzy dice and curb feelers.

it looks really sweet, that "tach shift" is hard to beat, i've driven a Lexus with one of those. the thing that sells me on the Corvette though, is the heritage, and the HUD, (Heads Up Display) now thats hard to beat, and nobody else is offering it right now. GM is coming up with some real winners, the other big 1 had better get with it.B|

If he were a car salesman telling us to buy a new Caddy from him at Joe Bob's Quality GM... that would be advertising. Discussing a new car model is not advertising. Cars are discussed quite often around here.

Don't like this thread? Go on to another one.

the HUD, (Heads Up Display)

More info? Where does it appear, what information is included, can you edit what you want (add some remove other), size of display... Sounds interesting.
Shit happens. And it usually happens because of physics.

The GM HUD systems came out in 1988 and have traditionally shown your speedometer and turn signals. The latest HUD system is more customizable, you can choose what goes up - speedometer, tach, speedometer AND tach, shift light, plus one more guage, like oil preasure, battery charge, fuel, etc.

HUD has never REALLY taken off, many of the people that I've talked to have really disliked the systems and turned them off.

The older systems I saw were annoying because even though it was projected onto the windshield, they were focussed at 12 inches from your nose. If you're looking at the road the HUD is out of focus. If you're looking at the HUD the road is out of focus. Unless they can fix that, I suspect it won't ever be really popular.

Andy - maybe you're sitting too close to the steering wheel - or - you're getting old and need bifocals. :D

My Bonneville has a HUD. I'll miss having it if it's not an option on my next car.
