DOUG SUPERNAW ARRESTED

(SEPTEMBER 26, 2002)

County music recording artist Doug Supernaw has had another run in with the law, and this time he could be looking at some jail time.

Doug Supernaw, just after his arrest
for assaulting Brenham Police officers.

Shortly after midnight Thursday, the 42-year old Bellville resident became involved in a disturbance in the Texas Tavern on the 2400 block of South Day. The police were called and reports say that Supernaw resisted officers. He reportedly told the officers he had a room at the Hilltop Motel but when officers led him to his room they say Supernaw just sat on the sidewalk, telling them he ‘wasn’t going anywhere.’

Supernaw then allegedly charged at Brenham Police officer Joseph Merkley, injuring the officer and he also allegedly injuried officer Amy Campos. Reports say it took up to five officers to eventually subdue Supernaw.

Supernaw remains in the Washington County jail on charges of assaulting a police officer, a third degree felony, public intoxication and resisting arrest. Bond has been set at $10,000 for the assault charge, $750 for the resisting arrest charge and $400 for the public intoxication charge. However, Washington County jail authorities say Supernaw refuses to sign bonding papers and remains behind bars.

The incident occurred on Supernaw's 42nd birthday. He has previously faced charges of possession of marijuana. Supernaw last recorded at record in 1999.

This guy used to be one of my musical mentors, i think i need to drive down to brenham, and take him sky diving, so he'll find another way to get high!
