cloud9 0 #1 September 29, 2002 NO SHIT THERE I WAS THOUGHT I WAS GONNA DIE! First jump of the day, a 3 way with a couple of friends. Just a fun little jump to kick the weekend off. Jump went well 4000 track away 3000 wave off dump. Line stretch looked good, then all of sudden the canopy lurched left then right and spun up in about 1 sec. I had about 4 line twist before I could get control. Then it went into a dive and started spinning, no choice I chopped it, got stable pulled silver. I was under a good reserve. After I chopped I looked for the main but never saw it, I was over trees so I went for the airport. Well from 10:00am - 4:00pm was spent in the woods looking for and then cutting my canopy out of trees we never did find the freebag. So an expensive jump to say the least but I lived so I can't complain to much. Main canopy: Heatwave 150 loaded at 1.33 Reserve Tempo 150 loaded the same. Great reserve deployment, no issues with the tempo. Nice opening, flew great, landed great! 2nd reserve ride! Well hope your weekend started a little better then mine. I didn't really think about it until after I posted this but this is a tradition at my DZ. Anytime you have a malfunction when the beer light comes on you have to get everyones attention. It starts LOOK AT ME, LOOK AT ME, NO SHIT THERE I WAS THOUGHT I WAS GONNA DIE. Then from there you tell your story. Does anyone else have a similar tradition at their drop zone?
