Skychick Beauty Tips...?

>That really blows their minds sometimes when they see what I'm

The opposite has happened to me quite often. I'll meet someone, think "you know, she's really good looking," jump with her a while, go climbing or whatever. Then some night we'll all go out after work or something, and I will see her after she puts on makeup and think "ew."

Makeup is one of those things (like big hair) that I will simply never understand. I've met a lot of women who get mad at men who look for only superficial beauty - and then spend hours on that superficial "beauty."

I find this all very amusing....After a day of jumping if I don't shower, not much free beer. If I get all dressed up....much free beer....much free food...much free...well...almost anything! I don't believe men when they say they like the "natural" look.

In defense of make-up, there's a right way and a wrong way to apply it. I try to apply it to enhance my features, so when you look at me you might think, "oh, she's cute", instead of "oh, isn't her make-up pretty". If you notice my make-up, then I have it all wrong. I go for the natural look and stick to brownish tones.

The Just-After-Sex sweaty look is also particularly excellent, and likely to induce a go-around. :)

OH, no doubt...that look is hard to beat. Maybe that's why it's so sexxy when you see it outside the bedroom... discloses what they'll look like after a nice sexual escapade.:)I'm a big fan of deep, dark red lipstick, though...so I couldn't say that make-up is a total waste

I have found that Clinique products really have staying power. Good luck.

I second this. The work-out makeup is light, yet stays on.

This thread is so funny to me. I don't know about other DZs, but at Skydive Deland, every girl has something on. Guys may think they don't, but THEY DO! Sometimes, only other girls can tell that they have eyeliner on, or white eye shadow or blush or whatever it may be. It might not be obvious to the untrained eye, but I think Skymama can back me up here. Ha ha ha. A lot of skydivers, men and women, paint their nails, dye their hair, wear funky eye makeup or whatever.

My personal regime: I take about half an hour to shower and be ready to go. I rarely wear perfume, but I do on occasion. I nearly always wear make-up but only light make-up and mascara. Even when I go without make-up, I wear mascara. I have blonde eyelashes. I never wear lipstick and ALWAYS wear Blistex. I also do not dye my hair.

I find it funny b/c most guys can't tell whether I'm wearing it or not. The only thing that's even noticable to my boy-toy is when I don't have on mascara. Otherwise, my face basically looks the same with it or without it. I prefer to wear a light makeup and I don't see anything wrong with it.

To each his own. Everyone has their preferences. I just find that more people sound like they're against girls who wear make-up to look pretty than the other girls at the DZ who wear it to make some sort of statement or dye their hair for fun.

It's all good to me, either way. Whatever floats your boat.

And, Vallerina....I SECOND THAT! Ha ha ha!

What about other fake things...I could point out several women at my DZ w/ boob jobs, but no makeup. Is that better?

Again, I'll preach the "please do not judge" rule that I live by. Who cares what other people do and why they do it? Be who you are. I don't think you're being anyone else just b/c you wear or don't wear this or do or don't do that.

Boys, if you claim you don't like it, you don't have to date the girl at your DZ who wears it. But you don't have to judge her or think you know who she is just b/c she wears it.

I get prejudged A LOT. Do I give a shit? Nope! The way I look at it...it's anyone's loss who doesn't take the chance to get to know me, regardless of what they *think* they might know about me. What matters most to me is being who I am, letting others be who they are, and spreading as much love as possible
:P.

I'll end by saying this: There is NO RULE that says you can't be a little girlie and still kick MAJOR ASS! I think I can kick just as much ass in the sky, on a wakeboard, on a surf board or wherever whether I'm wearing make up or not;). Power to the girl who doesn't have to be butch to be thought of as an athlete.

>Otherwise, my face basically looks the same with it or without it

I think, if it were me, I might question spending a half an hour a day on something that has no effect. I suppose in a way you could consider it like praying - if it makes you feel better, then it's worth it.

>I just find that more people sound like they're against girls who wear
> make-up to look pretty . . . .

Personally, I'm not against them at all. It just is an indication of who you are, like everything else about you. Someone who smokes, in general, doesn't care about her health too much. Someone with 4 inch fingernails doesn't use their hands much. Someone who spends a lot of time putting on makeup cares a lot about their superficial appearance. That does not make any of those people bad or less worthwhile or anything. But by the same token, it's hard to take someone seriously when they claim they are really into healthy living - and then they light up a cigarette.

In skydiving, everyone expresses themselves differently. Some do it by their flying style or their teaching style. Some do it by their clothes. Some do it by their hair, makeup and perfume. Some do it by their attitude. Most do it via a combination of these. We all gravitate towards those people who, from external appearances, we will get along with. Once we know people better, those external appearances are less important. I would like to think that, in skydiving, they become _much_ less important with time, but nowadays I'm not sure.

I'm with you. I went to see that movie "Shallow Hal" and I was appalled at the way that poor guy was treated. During the first 10 minutes of the movie, he would go up and ask attractive girls to dance. They would reject him solely on his physical appearance. Tsk, tsk. I'm glad guys aren't that way.;)

I completely agree! I'm the same smart-assed girl with or without make up. With make up, though, I'm a few beers richer.

I said half an hour TOTAL between showering, getting dressed, and applying a little make up. You're absolutely right, it does make me feel better. I also pray, so judge how you will;)

The rest of what you said, I completely SECOND!;-)

SUNSCREEN, chapstick. Almay makes one of those compact makeups and the sunscreen in it works even if the makeup disappears after one jump. I have curly hair, I have given up even trying to look presentable at the DZ. I wear tight stretchy comfy shorts that fit under my jumpsuit nice and as a bonus I think people are too busy looking at my rather large ass to wonder why I'm not wearing makeup.

I never wear makeup when I jump, but on the few times I've shown up at the Dropzone after work or with makeup on for whatever reason, people are amazed that you are a real person too.

They are not used to seeing you dressed for work, or wearing makeup.

Always amuses me and makes me realize that the two worlds can't collide.

But, If I did jump with Make-up. Mary Kay !

I am sorry you don't see women who don't meet the latest standards of fashion as real people - if you really meant what you said above. I hope I misunderstood it.

PLFExpert--I totally agree with you. I mean why is it so bad if we do wear makeup? Some of the comments on here seem to imply that if a girl wears makeup to the dz, she is silly. I don't think so. I'm much like Andrea, I wear makeup to enhance what I have. It is hardly noticeable. A little concealer to hide the late nights and a little liner to brighten my eyes. A little blistex to soften my lips. Big deal! Does it make me any less of a skydiver? NO! Does it make me feel better? Maybe. The fact is, I don't come to the dz looking like Tammy Faye. I'm not trying to impress anyone by wearing makeup. I'm just being myself. If that's not good enough, or if people think it's silly--then I'm happy being silly! So there!:$ With my BLUSH and all!

Sorry to invade this girly thread, but I would just like to say that the only women who should wear make-up at DZ's are the Whuffos. I've learned that all skychicks are beautiful without it and don't need to put that stuff on their face.

I couldn't agree more with this. I've never been a big fan of girls wearing makeup, on or off the dropzone. I prefer the 'natural' look, it's what's inside that counts anyway.

Scars and wounds don't really attract me on their own. But, it would be an indication of an adventurous person. That, or someone who is klutzy! As for the weight thing, I'm a tall, semi-muscular girl, and I don't like to weigh more than my guy. Irrational, yes, but that's the way it is.

Well said, kalake. Like I said, to each their own. Everyone is entitled to their own standards, and preferences.

Skybytch, I didn't mean to imply not wearing makeup makes a woman butch. I never said that. I stand by my comment: power to the woman who is a little girlie and can still be thought of as an athlete. Like I said, I get prejudged a LOT! It doesn't bother me...most people take one look at me and immediately judge that I'm a stuck-up girlie girl. They couldn't be more wrong, but I'm not going to go through the trouble of trying to prove myself to anyone or explain myself. I am who I am and I like to dress up sometimes, and I like to wear mascara and I like to wear a big fat tourquoise necklace. It makes me feel good. But, at any point in time, in my nice clothes, in my mascara or wearing my necklace, I can still rip on a wakeboard or skydive my ass off. I think we're in the same boat, just on different ends. Girls w/out makeup might get judged by some people for the wrong reason, just like girls who are a bit more girlie do, too.

I think I said this before and I'll say it again, the grass is NEVER greener. Rich/Poor, Pretty/Ugly, Girlie/Tom-boy, Fat/Skinny or WHATEVER, everyone has judgements by others they deal with. Sometimes the stereotype proves true, and other times it doesn't. How will you truly know unless you get to know a person?

And since someone brought up the subject of what we like in men.

I second Skymama...I don't want a man prettier than me. I like men who can get dirty and fix whatever needs fixing. I like men who don't mind if I fix it first and trust that I did a good job and don't feel like, just b/c I'm a woman, they have to "double-check" my job. The number one quality I look for in a guy is FUNNY!!! I love to laugh, make people laugh, and I love people who can make me laugh all night. My favorite actors are John Travolta and Kevin Costner, NOT Brad Pitt or whoever else is the hot item at the moment. I've NEVER dated that guy that all the girls wanted. I've ALWAYS dated the guy that most women, after they know him, wish they could marry. Physicalities have never been a big issue for me. I recently read my journal from high school, and in it was my "perfect guy" list. I was pleased to see, that even back then, in that superficial high school atmosphere, there were only two items, in a list of 100 that were physcal characteristics. Some people believe physical appearance makes peopel attractive. I've always been attracted to weird things, like a guy wearing weird glasses for no reason, or the guy at the end of the bar who's hair is a big mess but his shirt is neatly tucked in. To me, once you know a person, they can become uglier or sexier. Lucky for me, I have the sexiest man alive;).
