PhreeZone 20 #1 September 29, 2002 Reminder for those not used to it... its Humps(or other number): jumps: and cases of beer owed. 1 time being called an incompetent skydiver at a new DZ:3:1 I had just showed up at a DZ, reserve was out by a few days so I borrowed a rig from a friend, in the process of chopping mains, the DZO walks up asks me what I'm doing and tells me I'm incompetent to swap mains. I had'nt even been on the DZ for 15 minutes yet when this happened... needless to say I'm not happy with the DZ and will not be returning in the future. If I did'nt have some friends that had prepaid for their tandems and I wanted to watch... I would have left then. Made 3 freefly jumps with LewMonst and got 3 or 4 docks with her. She's improved so much since I last jumped with her. And a case owed but will probally not be paid for a new DZ.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

SatchFan 0 #3 September 29, 2002 1st jump at a new dz:5:1 I too had the experience of jumping at a new dz. Luckily my experience went a little better. Nobody said I was incompetent. If they thought so...they kept it to themselves. Sorry to hear about your bad experience. Should have stuck around and drank all their beer!
Dumpster 0 #4 September 29, 2002 Man, Phree- That f*ckin blows, what the DZO said- 1:4:0 Got a speeding ticket on my way to the DZ - 60 in a 45- (Swear I didn't see the cop untill too late- Speed limit sign- Where?) Met DiverDriver and eeneR at our humble DZ in East Troy, made three jumps- got some great tips and learned more on controlling my fall rate and approacing formations. After a couple minor crashes, decided full face helmets are definitely for me! Fourth jump was just an uplanned, jump-out-with-three -guys- and- see- what- happens jump - So we spent fourty-five seconds chasing each other around the sky- Tons of fun! Chris, Renee- You guys ROCK!!! Hope everyone else had a great weekend! ROCK ON!!! Easy Does It
Skitzo 0 #5 September 29, 2002 1st time I jumped with no goggles:2:1 I suppose I owe a case for jumping w/o em, but nobody asked if it was my first, so I guess I get away with it. Airhead 0 #6 September 29, 2002 0:2:2 Celibate ! Um...2 AFP jumps, #4 & #5. I feel like I owe 2 CASES BECAUSE: 1st jump I Almost backed out- I felt light-headed nervous&sick but JM talked me into it. 2nd jump screwed up landing approach and got lectured from radio guy..who later he helped me begin to learn how to pack student chutes. I'm definitely GONNA OWE BIG TIME when I finally get through AFP!!!

Stacy 0 #8 September 29, 2002 2 dropzones in one day:4:1 went up to sebastian on sat and due to tandems and a team training loads were realllllly backed up. i didn't get to jump last weekend so this frustrated me and my new rig slightly. called up pahokee and drove down there. did a jump with scotty and tami et al wearing goofy hats (i'm lucky to be alive!!) heard some awesome stories and had af ew beers. there's definitely an amazing vibe at pahokee and the place is beautiful. i showed up with my case of beer, much to the locals delight. met jujudre (something like that), omri heading out, freeflyfreaky, and a few others that i can't remember. i'll be causing trouble in ZHills next weekend, anyone going to be around? Snowbird 0 #9 September 29, 2002 ::0 Helped a friend move yesterday morning, then spent the afternoon cleaning for an open house today. Today is pissing rain, so it's a good day to not have time to jump! So while I wait for people to come see the house, I'm surfing pilotdaves ftp site. bbarnhouse 0 #11 September 29, 2002 4:17:0 1st time my camera flyer forgot to turn the camera back on after filming someone else's exit. I had to laugh and then made him suffer through the next jump as I held "God of the Sun" and orbited him 3- jumpers drug by their canopies because they insisted on jumping in winds (maybe next time they will listen to the locals)....they got a nice refresher course in RSL's and cutting away a main, but none were worse for wear. 17 jumps working on new routines.......man I love this life
mouth 0 #12 September 29, 2002 0:1:0 The bad part is that is a big improvement over the past month and a half! I headed to Monroe for their boogie Sat morning in dense fog. About half way there blue skies suddenly appeared to my delight since it has been so long since I've taken the time for myself to go jump. Arrived on a light breeze and sunny skies only to be greeted by one of my favorites...a CASA. The had Jerry Bird organizing (what a great guy) so we push back to second load since we are pushing 18 on the dive. Things are going great I thought when clouds started rolling in on us. We manage to finally get loads 1 and 2 off the ground before the clouds overtake us totally. 17 out of the 18 on the dive make it in....and we would have had 3 points if only we had 2 more seconds. The rest of the day was spent with small groups doing hops out of the king air. I did get to see something I hope never to see again....especially over my head. A guy went really low on one hop and wound up with two canopies out due to a cypres fire. I did video on it up until it started to split at about 75 feet.... then I couldn't watch. Luckily the guy was OK because his main caught on a tree at the edge of the landing area. Moral of that story....pull high, it's lower than you think!!!!! Overall a good weekend even if I did only get one jump....at least I didn't owe beer for anything!!! Lisa -- Hot Mama At least you know where you stand even if it is in a pile of shit. jceman 1 #16 September 29, 2002 3 damned weeks I've been battling this sinus crud, hence once more :0:0. Feh! Faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, more money. Why do they call it "Tourist Season" if we can't shoot them?
seedy 0 #17 September 29, 2002 ::0 Got rained out two weeks ago and had to reschedule my AFP 1 & AFP 2 jumps for Saturday. Nice blue skies and little wind. Finished ground school and then JM and I packed my chute. And then the darn winds came up and kept increasing. Had to reschedule and now it is another two week wait. Drat! I intend to live forever -- so far, so good.
Spy38W 0 #18 September 29, 2002 Quote1st time I jumped with no goggles:2:1 Oh really... well, I guess I know who's buying beer for next weekend.. As for myself... 1 (number of times I slalom-swooped powerlines) : 2 : 0 Only two jumps, first was a free HD solo jump flying into the dz, second was a two way sitfly with somebody learning to sit. Very fun, it's awesome to see people improve so quickly. 32 days till my BEER repack cycle! -- Hook high, flare on time

pilotdave 0 #20 September 30, 2002 0:3:probably a couple 3 jumps at a CASA boogie. First one was a simple 2 way which went better than I expected. Second one I got thrown out the back by 2 people. I just layed down on the ramp staring straight down. One person on each side grabbed an arm and leg gripper, picked me up, and tossed me out. At that point I was the "target" for a 9 way speed star. Ended up with a 5 way star. Last jump was the sunset load (although one more load flew after that...). I just did a solo. It was so peaceful. Then today i finished my biennial flight review so I'm cleared to act as pilot in command for my first time in over a year. Taking a friend up for a plane ride on wednesday. What a weekend... Kris 0 #21 September 30, 2002 1:4:0 1 Phone call to a certain dz.commer so that I could rub it into her face that I was at Hooters and she wasn't there. 4 great jumps. Would have been more but the 205 developed an exhaust problem on the last load and we were stuck with the 172 today. 0 beer owed, it was a safe weekend.
