Schroeder 0 #1 October 1, 2002 Any of you guys play Microsoft Flight Sim 2000? I just bought it the other day, and man, it's pretty cool. I flew a 182 ofver my old DZ, and the terrain was pretty damned accurate for northern BC! Plus you can download real weather stats, so when I take off from Vancouver, it's just like it is outside my window! I'm pretty impressed with it. If I ventured in the slipstream; Between the via-ducts of your dreams.......could you find me?

skycat 0 #3 October 1, 2002 I bought the professional version for Derek last year for X-mas, it is very sweet. He has been using it to practice his IFR stuff so when he flies with the instructor he is very familiar with everything. He of course now wants me to buy him the pedals for the floor so he can do the rudder.Fly it like you stole it!
sunshine 2 #4 October 1, 2002 Yup, i have it (thanks Cajun). The sad part is, i have the most fun taking the planes out over the ocean and crashing them. ___________________________________________ meow I get a Mike hug! I get a Mike hug!

bvsdjumper 0 #7 October 1, 2002 I recently bought MS Flight Sim 2002 Pro and so far like it. I never had any of the previous MS Flight Sims so I can't compare to them, but I did have Sierra's Pro Pilot '99 and even Sublogic's flight simulator for the Commodore 64. I like flying around trying to find stuff like Mount Rushmore, The Golden Gate Bridge, The Statue of Liberty, and so on. There is alot of stuff like that to find. One of the things I like the most about it is that it has grass strip airports and even has BVSD's Kindelberger airport . One of the first things I did with it is try to take off in a 747 from Kindelberger . I did eventually get it in the air but not before plowing through lots and lots of trees .Sky-div'ing (ski'div'ing) n. Schroeder 0 #8 October 1, 2002 Hey, is it true that you can actually interact with the Tower (via voice recog?) in 2002 pro? And yeah, the rudder pedals would be sweet. Soon! I was playing with VOR last night. It's _such_ a detailed program, there's soooo much to learn! But soo fun. I flew a 737 from Vancouver Int to Prince George Regional, and was soo focused on landing I left my gear up If I ventured in the slipstream; Between the via-ducts of your dreams.......could you find me? christoofar 0 #9 October 1, 2002 I have 2000 Professional, before they took the twin towers out of it. Very detailed program! Now if the King Air in FS2000 had a cargo door we could simulate a jumprun! ____________________________________________________________ I'm RICK JAMES! Fo shizzle. diverds 0 #13 October 1, 2002 I use the 2000 version to stay sharp on IFR skills like holding patterns and situational awareness. It has every navaid from the jep database so you can use actual approach plates to fly instrument approaches. Pretty cool. Skydive Radio
bvsdjumper 0 #14 October 1, 2002 I'll check on the voice recognition thing when I get home. When I bought it, it just came in a little box with the CDs. It came with a little getting started guide but really no printed docs . I just installed it and started playing. One time I was landing a 182 with retractable gear. I was nice and lined up on the runway and so I put the gear "down." I was coming in nice and slow towards the near end of the runway, wasn't going to undershoot. It all looked great up until I touched down. The view seemed like I was little lower than I should have been and I heard scraping and a crash noise. I was like "come on that was perfect!". In the instant replay, I realized I never put the gear up (well, until just before landing) . DOH! Then I was like "so that's what all the buzzing was about!" . In the real world it would have been a nice soft belly landing. ArtSky-div'ing (ski'div'ing) n. Schroeder 0 #15 October 1, 2002 You know what would be a cool add-on? A SAR mission pack, where you take out a twin rotor to longs/lats, hover (geardown/gearup to simulate the pickup) and return to base. That'd be cool. I suppose I could just do that with out an addon... If I ventured in the slipstream; Between the via-ducts of your dreams.......could you find me? Spy38W 0 #21 October 1, 2002 QuoteDo they have an Otter? I know FS has King Air, and I have the Twin Bo. Why yes they do. The first one I downloaded used the default King Air panel, but they have one with an Otter panel too. Who'dve thought they are actually used for things other than skydiving/sightseeing. I couldn't figure out how I was getting to altitude so quickly, I was setting the fuel level to 200/side, but forgot that it didn't have any passenger weight. http://surclaro.com/nuke/html/download.php?op=viewsdownload&sid=36 -- Hook high, flare on time
