moodyskydiver 0 #1 October 2, 2002 Thanks to everyone who sent good vibes for my job interview today! The Navarro County Sheriff's Dept has offered me a conditional job offer. The conditions are, as long as I pass my: Psych evaluation Drug screening Polygraph test and physical then I am the new dispatcher for NCSO! I'm supposed to start doin these tests in the next 2 weeks and if things are good then I'll start my 6month probationary job training. For starters, I have to work midnight to 8AMbut it might change in the future. The $$ and benefits arent bad either. Woohoo! "...just an earthbound misfit, I."

So this is gonna be interesting working full-time graveyard shift, goin to school and draggin my butt to the DZ to work on my A check off card. After I get settled in and I can work my class schedule around my shift next semester things will be cool. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
ChileRelleno 0 #10 October 2, 2002 CONGRATULATIONS! Passing the pysch eval should be the hardest part for a crazy skydiver LOL. Your scanner monitors the CB channels? Next time I'm trucking through your area late at night I'll holler at you. Deuce 1 #15 October 2, 2002 Congratulations, Moody! It's an interesting, exciting, stressful job. Funniest thing I can think of right now that I ever heard a dispatcher say was to a rookie officer in a foot chase in San Francisco who lost track of where he was. The dispatcher knew the area, and in a deep, slow, Don Cornelius FM-radio voice said "Calm down son, look around, do you see any liquor stores?" We're miles away zooming to the area thinking "what the hell is he talking about" and the rookies says "pant-pant "Yeah, Bob's Bottle Shop!" (or something) the dispatcher knew the area and directed us to the young copper. I was the HR and training officer for a couple of years, so PM me if you'd like and I'll pass on some tips. You should have the MMPI written (Minnesota Multi-Phasic (or phase)Instument first for the psych. Just answer those questions from the gut and don't try to over think them. And pretty soon all the Deputies you haven't met will be finding excuses to get into dispatch to see the beauty attached to the voice. "One adam-12, see the man....." Yeah, the body does adapt, but I'm starting to think it might not be a good thing. My last semester of college I was taking 27 credit hours and working full time. I usually got 1-2 hours of sleep per weeknight (so long as I didn't have a paper or anything due) but I got to catch up with about 4.5 hours of sleep per nights on weekends. -- Hook high, flare on time
 Zennie 0 #22 October 2, 2002 Alright!
