OCTOBER 10, 1771 A Gabrielleno tribal chief seeks revenge for the rape of his wife by a Spaniard and is killed by soldiers from the San Gabriel Mission. The incident angers colonizers and sparks an era of forced conversions to Catholicism.
CIRCA 1784 San Gabriel Mission officials complain of preoccupation of Angelenos with "fast horses, strong drink and loose women."
1836 Census data indicates that of the 250 "non-Indian" women in L.A., 15 are mala vida--i.e., prostitutes.
MARCH 26, 1836 Angeleno Domingo Felix is shot dead by renegade Gervasio Alipas, who had stolen Felix's wife. Two weeks later, citizens form California's first vigilance committee, and the murderous adulterers are executed
AUGUST 13, 1846 Major John C. Fremont leads federal troops into L.A. to reassert U.S. claim to the town. Most of the soldiers spend their evenings in the Pueblito, a brothel district east of the river.

SEPTEMBER 5, 1921 Silent film star Fatty Arbuckle lures starlet Virginia Rappe into his room and purportedly rapes her with a bottle. She lapses into a coma and dies four days later. After three trials Arbuckle is acquitted.
1922 Movie-morals czar Will Hays be comes president of the Motion Picture Producers and Distributors of America and later publishes a "doom book" of 117 stars deemed "unsafe" because of their promiscuous private lives.
NOVEMBER 16, 1924 Film producer Thomas Ince boards William Randolph Hearst's yacht Oneida for a birthday party in his honor. According to legend, he is soon caught in bed with Hearst's mistress Marion Davies and shot dead The coroner's report lists the cause of death as a heart attack.
MAY 18, 1926 Foursquare Gospel Church evangelist Aimee Semple McPherson vanishes for several weeks and mysteriously reappears. It is later discovered that she was having a tryst with radio station operator Kenneth Ormiston.
1927 Rumors circulate about actress Clara Bow having marathon sex with the entire USC football team-including tackle John Wayne--during weekend parties at her Beverly Hills home.
AUGUST 9, 1929 Theater mogul Alexander Pantages is convicted of raping a young woman in a mop closet. His conviction is later overturned.
1931 Hollywood newcomer Marlene Dietrich has a rumored lesbian affair with Spanish Mercedes de Acosta.

1943 Howard Hughes designs Jane Russell's bra for The Outlaw.
1943 Teen actress Joan Barry files and wins a paternity suit against Charlie Chaplin. The same year; Chaplin marries 17-year-old Oona O'Neill.
JANUARY 12, 1943 Police remove actress Frances Farmer, naked and deranged, from the Knickerbocker Hotel. On the arrest record, she states her occupation "c--sucker."

The Power Puff Girls were accidentally created by Professor Utonium who attempted to create the perfect little girls. He added the ingredients sugar, spice and everything nice and a mysterious Chemical X. As a result, three sisters Blossom, Buttercup and Bubbles evolved.

Using their ultrasuper powers, these girls have dedicated their lives to fighting crime and the forces of evil. The Power Puff Girls are small in stature with large eyes and heads. They live with Professor Utonium in the suburban neighborhood of Townsville.
