scottbre 0 #1 October 3, 2002 Do you think online vendors of various products are obligated to inform potential consumers that they don't currently have a specific item in physical inventory or is it totally alright for them to continue to take orders for that product without informing buyers that they don't actually have the ordered item? It is really annoying. Like you said, I wish they'd just tell me they don't have it.

They have also, on at least two occasions, offered extremely low prices on preorder computer parts and then rescinded the offer when the items became available. Of course, if you wanted to cough up full retail, you could still get your preorder.
scottbre 0 #4 October 3, 2002 If you want good deals on computer parts, check out http://www.newegg.com I bought a hard drive from them on Monday, and it will be waiting for me by the time I get home today. Western Digital 100GB 7200rpm 8MB Cache $129 Sounded like a good deal to me. "Your mother's full of stupidjuice!" My Art Project
jfields 0 #5 October 3, 2002 My dealings with Buy.com have been mixed. I've ordered things from them at least 50 times, including a good number of corporate purchases for my job. When they have something in stock, it is usually very well priced and arrives the next day, even with regular shipping. My home and office are only about 100 miles from their Pennsylvania warehouse. The problem is when things are out of stock. They aren't good about notification, and customer service isn't great. Buy.com has been either very good for me, or very bad, but seldom anything in between.
