SpeedRacer 1 #27 October 2, 2002 QuoteAnd I agree hunters are fair game too. The last one I shot was with a recurve bow from about nine yards. ROTFL!! When's the open season on hunters in your state? SpeedRacer 1 #28 October 2, 2002 QuoteA lot of people in bear country make a lot of noise to let bears know they are coming. Some have small bells on their packs etc. The Alaska Department of Fish and Game, recently issued this bulletin: In light of the rising frequency of human/grizzly bear conflicts, the Alaska Dept of Fish and Game is advising hikers, hunters, and fishermen to take extra precautions and keep alert of bears while in the bush. "We advise outdoorsmen to wear noisy little bells on their clothing so as not to startle bears that aren't expecting them. We also advise outdoorsmen to carry pepper spray in case of an encounter with a bear. It is also a good idea to watch out for fresh signs of bear activity. Outdoorsmen should recognize the difference between black bear and grizzly bear droppings: Black bear dropping are smaller and contains lots of berries and squirrel fur. Grizzly bear droppings has little bells in it and smells like pepper." Speed Racer --------------------------------------------------
freeflir29 0 #29 October 2, 2002 QuoteThey're pretty damn rare over there. There's a little area in North Eastern WA. that is part of the Griz management project. It's bordered by the Couer D' Alene river and the Idaho border. They actually have something like 15 or 20 running around up there. Very nasty terrain though and THICK with trees. Consequently that area also has the highest per capita Bigfoot sightings in the US. I used to hunt not far from a little town called Usk.

DJL 235 #31 October 2, 2002 QuoteAnd I agree hunters are fair game too. The last one I shot was with a recurve bow from about nine yards. One of them ran right out in front of my car and I couldn't stop in time. I was thinkin' of calling the sherriff but decided to check his pockets for loose change and chewin' tabaccy instead. -Doug"I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
DJL 235 #32 October 2, 2002 QuoteBlack bear dropping are smaller and contains lots of berries and squirrel fur. I'm trying to picture how a squirrel wouldn't see a bear coming. Squirrel says, "Hey, look the big black squirrel, maybe he wants to play." -Doug"I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
quatorze 1 #33 October 3, 2002 The dad had his act together, but did you hear about the uncle who dove in the water after a 6 foot Bull shark had torn off his nephew's arm. The uncle whipped the sharks ass, pulled him back onto land and saved the kid's arm. On top of that if you listen to the 911 tapes he sounds like he is calling out for pizza instead of just fighting a shark and winning. All this happened in Florida last year.
