sangiro 26 #1 October 4, 2002 A quick question: I'm looking at a couple of options to fight spam in the Dropzone Mail service. Some solutions out there are more aggressive and some less so. Here are the options: 1. None - Use the new Dropzone Mail application's ability to add email addresses to your own spam list as well as filter for words in the subject or address. 2. ORDB - Filter all incoming mail against open relay databases (ORDB) Gets 20-30% of spam in our tests, but very little real email is blocked. 3. SpamAssassin - This just tags email as spam, so you still download it, but the subject is altered as ****** SPAM ****** for easy filtering. This way you don't lose anything. Gets 95% of spam, but also a little legit email. 4. Spamcop - Gets 99% of spam, but blocks more legit mail. You don't download the spam at all, it's killed on the server. So, which would you prefer?Safe swoops Sangiro
PhreeZone 20 #2 October 4, 2002 Bossman... I know what those programs cost (I've eval'd one and help on one of the black hole lists currently) I admire what your spending on this privliage. You are going way beyond what almost every other FREE service has ever offered. When are you getting to the States again? I fore see a trip to SoCal to express my thanks! If you do go with the None I can post some of the more common rule and keyword filters that I've created for our corperate network and also a list of domains that should be blocked.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
sangiro 26 #3 October 4, 2002 Phree - I'll be in SoCal as soon as they let me in! Quote I can post some of the more common rule and keyword filters that I've created for our corperate network and also a list of domains that should be blocked. It would be great if you could post these anyway. People can already use them on the current installation. I for one would like to have it. Jimbo 0 #4 October 5, 2002 What are you running as an MTA on the backend? If you have any control over this _and_ you're the one who has to administrate the system then I would recommend Postfix, it really doesn't get any easier. Of course if the hosting site takes care of this then nevermind... - Jim"Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
