Recommended Posts

I hear your pain. If you look at the time I'm making this post maybe you will feel mine. It's 7:42 in the AM here in Snowy Winnieg and I had a late night last night.

wait...was that you???;)
sounds like we are in the same boat today..what were you drinking???
it all started with a "blue sky"...then we had a seafood medley for dinner so white wine followed, followed by 2 more glasses of wine throughout dinner...on my last white wine my dinner companion ordered a sambuca and coffee...so I said coffee...that sounds good right now...so another dinner friend told me to put frangelico in it...what is frangelico I asked..(I am only 24 and just started my alcoholism this year) so I had a coffee with frang., baileys and something else...but the tricky bartender put whipped cream on it, so I had to have another because it was just so tasty...and that one didn't last long, so looking at my watch, seeing it was past 10 (and had to get up at 6) I ordered a decaf...I guess I forgot to ask for just coffee because another was served...that was it for the night...

Sam Adams Octoberfest and Baileys and Coffee. It was frickin cold here last night. We grilled out and went hot tubbing at a friends house and then we all just sat around and watched videos. Pretty boring.

Came in at 7 am. It's now about 9:30 and just about everything is set up, so there's not a whole lot to do until the facilities check at 3 pm. Kind of a hurry up and wait day killer.

Tomorrow hopefully there's even less actual work to do, but it's a longer day of just sitting around and waiting for stuff to fail. Of course, tomorrow I have failure points all the way from France via two satellite hops, so, that ought to be fun -- no?

I'm a television technical director for Disney. We're doing two separate events at the same time over at Disneyland this weekend.

The first one is the opening of a new "land" at Disney's California Adventure -- "a bug's land" based on the movie "a bug's life". We have 6 outbound video signals going to different TV stations around the country via fiber and satellite.

The second thing we're doing is a press conference for a new stage show -- Aladdin. We have the director for the show in France via satellite and the choreographer in Pittsberg also via satellite. Both are backed up via fiber.

Of course, all this stuff is -way- over produced.

I have to work this weekend for one reason. I'm still recovering from a hard opening/cutaway from last weekend :)
Advice to everyone - if you hate your job, quit and go to work for yourself as an independent contractor. After which your life will be an interesting roller-coaster of pleasurable/stressful "free-time" mixed with periods of 24-hours of work per day for several days. But I'm never bored. And I never hate work - I look forward to it.

It's shortly after 6:00 A.M. and I'm here, sitting. Implementation didn't go well over night. Fortunately, it's not my system to support I just need to make sure my stuff works with it when it's all done. Don't expect much though, they knew it wasn't going well at 10:00 last night.

I've got the 3-midnight wires shift tonight and tomorrow. Perhaps something exciting will happen.

Jessica, I feel just so bad that you have to work. In fact, I think I should do more than just buy you beers and meals next week. Do you need new gear???? I'll lend you mine!

what wre you trying ot implement.

The mainframe guys were doing something. I've got the project plan around here somewhere. In all honesty, I have no clue what they were doing. I was just told I had to be here in case it affected the network side of everything.
So far today, I've accomplished
1. 6 new high games of DX Ball (kind of like breakout)
2. Researched activities for vacation starting Saturday
3. Made the list of things to remember to do before leaving
4. DZ.com forums - given.
5. debated on ordering lunch
and a few other misc. things. Yep...I'm bored...
