weegegirl 2 #1 October 6, 2002 So, this morning we wake up to severe blue. Gorgeous weather - a bit cold, but gorgeous. I throw myself on first load - going to go out and do a three way with a couple of friends. We all get on the plane, belt up, and two seconds later they tell us to get off cuz one of the two engines on our twin otter is not working. So, we get off and wait around while it's tweaked for a few minutes. Finally they load us back up and we taxi out to the runway. As we are about to get going the engine starts to trip up again. Talk about a nervous takeoff. We finally got off the ground and once we reach 3,000 my heart slows to a normal pace. My group was first out so we are approaching jump run and waiting for the red light. Finally someone just starts screaming door and we open without the light. Apparently the lights were broken but we didn't catch on until the pilot came on the PA and just started to scream EXIT, EXIT, EXIT. We dove out. Had a great 15 point 3way. But the uppers were so damn strong it blew everyone way the hell off airport. One guy had a line over on a rig he borrowed and had to chop. Even the sky gods on the load with the tiny little canopies were pushed way back. So as I'm landing in a wheat field I see the otter coming in and realize he is flying kind of slow and off. Well, the engine died again. Couldn't fix it cuz they didn't have the right parts. Today was just not meant to be. Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
