Zennie 0 #26 October 7, 2002 QuoteI also want to make sure my buddy (if I have exited with one) is in my horizontal view before I go into a full sit. I have to see them in a angle. IF they are right under me I have to get them back in a angle view. I do not know how to back track without getting back on my belly. Just a couple of comments about this. You want to go into you sit straight out the door. Don't wait or hesitate. One thing as you get into this more is that you really, really, really, really need to be disciplined about not going to your belly at any time... including breakoff. Naturally once everyone, including you has tracked away and you're by yourself you need to go to your belly to pull, but that's it. If you go to your belly during a freefly jump you'll "cork". In other words, your fall rate will change dramatically relative to everyone else and you'll shoot straight up like a cork held under water. The is very, very, very bad. If someone is above you when you cork, well... just don't let it happen. Plus you'll wind up way above the formation and then there are differential altitude issues which are also problematic at breakoff time. So if you get unstable, don't go to your belly. Tuck your knees in hard and get your arms out. That will put you into a stable, fast sitt-ish position and you can resume your jump without corking out. At breakoff time, do a half-cartwheel into a dive and ride it out like you were going down a water slide on your belly. Also make sure no one is behind you when you are about to break off. In a sit, do a quick 360 before you go to the 1/2 cartwheel. Freefly is fun, but there are a lot of new safety issues that you need to be heads-up on. freebird 0 #28 October 7, 2002 If someone is above you when you cork, *** This is why I will not go out to sit fly with more then myself or one person until Im damm sure I know what to do and what Im doing. I have only tried twice. I did cork, BIG TIME. but there was no one with us to be above me and I kept looking everywhere to make sure above my head. How can one practice safely? If Im going out to try a sit alone and I do end up on my belly?. I guess like you said . Do not get on my belly until close to pull time.
freebird 0 #29 October 7, 2002 At breakoff time, do a half-cartwheel into a dive and ride it out like you were going down a water slide on your belly. *** Again this is all gonna take a few solo jumps or jumping with one other person showing me this stuff. Im used to trun and burn not turn and cartwheel and slide. I have to learn all of the basic free

Do not get on my belly until close to pull time. If your doing a solo sit just exit the plane last and give yourself plenty of time between you and the group before you. This way if you do cork its not a problem going back to belly and starting over. This is what I did and still do if going solo just in case I do cork. pop 0 #32 October 7, 2002 Quote Cool Tiff. I could tell you were excited just talking to you yesterday. Yes, Slap, we Minions of the Dark have claimed another one. Ya know what I really, really want to do? I'd love to get 4 freefliers together and compete in the TSL RW meets in our freefly suits. The only rule would be that no one on the team can take it seriously. A bunch of freefliers cranking out RW jumps & hooting it up the whole time. That would be hilarious! "Man did you see how we funnelled that exit? That was GREAT! Let's do it again!" I'd do it just for the dirty looks we'd get. TTed, Im in on the 4-way RW Team....When can we start practicing? 7 ounce wonders, music and dogs that are not into beer
pop 0 #33 October 7, 2002 Quote He held me with his feet for a while( and did a fine job) On the second jump we did the same thing. when we let go it was because we were in a wicked spin or something I let you go because I was starting to sink below you. 7 ounce wonders, music and dogs that are not into beer

Zennie 0 #35 October 7, 2002 Quote If your doing a solo sit just exit the plane last and give yourself plenty of time between you and the group before you. Also orient yourself to face perpendicular to jump run when you're off the hill. That way if you forward or backslide (and you will, everyone does) you won't drift over/under the other groups. I did countless solos when I was learning to sit. I'd take heading & do a left & right 360, making sure I stopped back on the original heading. I'd do left & right cartwheels making sure I'd stop facing the same direction. Then I'd do forward & back flips, again stopping at the same heading. Some folks advocate that you work on only one thing in a given jump... like 360s. Then cartwheels. Then flips. Then put them all together. Makes a lot of sense because you can get multiple repetitions in the same skydive. Get good at these and you'll be ready for the next step... docking. - Z "Always be yourself... unless you suck." - Joss Whedon
Scoby 0 #36 October 7, 2002 QuoteSounds like my first few atemps. I don't know how you get into position, but I find bringing my knees forward as it to start a back flip and as I start to rotate up bring my arms back and look at the horizon. Then relax and enjoy the ride. I find RW in a sit more exciting than a RW at belly. I've just started learning to sit. My first attempt was a barrel roll onto my back, into the lazyboy position. It didn't work so well. However, on my second try doing the same thing, I managed to rotate forward into a sit and held it for five or six seconds. I hadn't had the chance to try again for a few weeks, as I rented some decidely non freefly-friendly gear. But this weekend, I got the chance to sit again. On the ride up, someone gave me the advice to rotate backwards into a sit by bringing up the knees. It worked like a charm. On the second try, I went from the sit to a stand. I think I'm gonna be freeflying a lot more...

freebird 0 #38 October 7, 2002 I let you go because I was starting to sink below you. *** Oh That must of been when I got out of the sitfly. I did get back in the sit on the second dive we did because I could tell when I got in the sit that I was really humming down fast and you were getting close fast, then somehow I rolled on my back and then I decided since we were pulling at 5000 ft. that I sholud just stay on my belly and keep an eye around me. I saw you the whole time until you pulled on the first jump I believe.
