sangiro 26 #1 October 7, 2002 Ok - seeing as I can't get into the US I think I'll go jump out of some planes. Looking for a DZ in France or Spain with good weather this time of the year. Would prefer to hear from people who are there right now! I know the World Cup is on at Empuriabrava. Their runway sis closed for construction on 21 and 22 Oct though. I'll still consider them. Any others? What's it like in Vichy this week? Safe swoops Sangiro
Slappie 9 #2 October 7, 2002 I'm sorry to hear your having a hard time getting into the US. I thought you have lived here an worked in the US before? Doesn't that have some kind of help in coming back? Just curious.. If it did... then I pitty the poor soul who hasn't worked there yet... Safe swoops Sangiro
nacmacfeegle 0 #4 October 7, 2002 What's it like in Vichy this week? The DZ at Vichy only operates during the boogie, I believe. The rest of the year its a 'real' airport. "Would prefer to hear from people who are there right now! " I'm not, so I'm not gonna suggest places like Gap, Lapalisse, La Roche. freeflir29 0 #7 October 7, 2002 QuoteWhere in Portugal? Yep.....I think he was doing his train up for the World Air Games there. Oh...come to think of it...I think you know him. Andre...I think he jumped at Citrusdale in the RSA. He relly liked Portugal and had lots of video that we watched on a cloudy day at the DZ. I think it was Skydive Portugal. I think they are the only ones there with "real planes." I do remember that the blistering fast Otter was yellow with black checker boards on the tail. I hear it's the fastest in Europe. Remster 30 #9 October 7, 2002 lapalisse will be at the end of the season now. check with them (I think they have a boogie around hlloween time as the last weekeknd of their season) Anyplace you go in southern france, phone them 1st to make sure they are open. The DZ in Avignon was completely devastated and flooded about 1 month back.Remster

Please notice that they'll be closed for some periods... have a look at http://www.skydive-portugal.com/events.html Hope this helps and to have you jumping at Portugal (in Europe, not in South Carolina)... mjasantos 0 #12 October 7, 2002 Sangiro, On my last post I forgot to mention that Skydive Portugal (http://www.skydive-portugal.com/ is also the Home DZ of the Freestyle Team Funkflyz, current World Champions and which have also won the last World Cup of Artistic Events (in Freestyle), held at Vienna - Austria, from September 21-28, 2002. This team is composed by Nils Predstrup and Martin Kristensen... "meet" them at http://www.skydive-portugal.com/staff.html. nws01 0 #13 October 7, 2002 Hey, HH! If you go to France there is a place there where naked ladies dance and there is a whole in the wall where you can see it all and the ladies don't care they just take off their underwear!

sangiro 26 #15 October 7, 2002 Mario, I checked it out and that's definitely and option. Looking at the weather it looks like it's thunderstorms back-to-back though. Is that the case or what's the weather like?Safe swoops Sangiro
mjasantos 0 #16 October 7, 2002 Sangiro, Skydive Portugal location in terms of meteo at this time of the year is great. By August, when temperature goes higher and when it's windy, you get there some turbulence, but not this time of the year. I live at about 50 miles from the DZ and many times at home I have overcast, rain, but quite often when arriving to the DZ the skies are blue. If the weather there is bad, then is bad all over the country... Last Saturday our team was there jumping and the weather was just perfect... Regarding thunderstorms, is not the case... To have a better picture of the weather, you should have an "average" weather between Coimbra (http://weather.cnn.com/weather/forecast.jsp?locCode=LPCO) and Castelo Branco (http://weather.cnn.com/weather/forecast.jsp?locCode=LPCB), because the DZ is about in the middle. wingnut 0 #17 October 8, 2002 sangiro, huffermoose has been raving about empuria brava for almost 2 years now....try there....and if he's there and not out on some oil rig, mug him and take his jump tix.... ______________________________________ "i have no reader's digest version"
nacmacfeegle 0 #18 October 8, 2002 Empuria definitely rocks, great place, fantastic scenery, good people, and a kick ass wee town to misbehave in. The captains cabin, and the surf inn are particularly good for night life. But I think HH said their runway would be closed for a while when he was thinking about going there.-------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. ernokaikkonen 0 #19 October 8, 2002 ...And wasn't it EmpuriaBrava that has made the use of an AAD mandatory?
nacmacfeegle 0 #20 October 8, 2002 Yup, they also have a 'license system' for freeflying, however, I jump an AAD, and am relatively confident they would let me sit over the mediterranean....-------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me.
