Luminous 0 #1 October 7, 2002 2 skydivers, lets call them Doc Steve & Mr. Hand (aka: Steve Hockey), exit in a Mr. Bill configuration, (one jumper stradles the other, the floater pulls out the door, 2 people under one canopy). Steve rode Doc out and they got the Mr. Bill. Now steve hooks up to Doc's Harness with a repelling rope. (strapped to leg on exit). And repels the length of the rope and hangs approx 50 ft below Doc. Enter Fish, who has also exited the otter under a Jedi 104. As Steve disconnects from the rope and hangs by holding on, Fish approaches from the rear and attempts to fly his body into steve so steve can transfer from the rope to another Mr. Bill with Fish. Fish's first try was rather fast and high, he has to hit the rope hard enough with caonpy to cause him to swing forward to reach Steve, and not to hard as to wrap the rope, and the difficulty is increased since he has to release the toggles and risers to hang on to Steve as they dock. Carl Carpenter was hovering around with video and it's quite interesting. Fish and Steve were able to dock on the second try and you should have seen that Jedi surge forward with a 4.0 wing loading. Then Steve let go about 4.5k and had a little bit of freefall and then opening. Much yaa-hoo'ing and stuff on the ground. And again it looked cool on video. Anybody ever hear of this being done before? or are they the first? Which would be good for us as we can always use more beer. BSBD'In an insane society a sane person seems insane.' happythoughts 0 #12 October 7, 2002 I haven't heard of anyone transitioning from one Mr. Bill to another, but the "hanging on a rope" thing has been done. Some people have tried using a bungee cord. Not recommended. Unfortunately, when the suspended person releases, the bungee cord spanks the person under canopy. Lots of stories of banged-up body parts from whipping bungee cords. Fish waited another couple seconds before turning in. I think he's going to buy it. And Carl Carpenter did get video of this.
